Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think what the present bunch of Liverpool players need is a Man Motivator in charge. In my opinion the only 2 managers around who I think would make Liverpool great again are Martin O'Neill and Joao Mourinho.

MON and Mourinho are similar in a lot of ways and I would have no problem with either in charge Anfield.
I would plump for MON cos he has experience of the British games and one of best motivators in the game and don't forget he has a backroom staffs who go everywherw with him and in John Robertson and Steve Walford you will not find better back up everywhere, these three guys as a team are fantastic and if Liverpool were to make changes this summer I would urge the powers to be to do everything in there powers to try and get them. If Celtic don't give MON a big amount of money to spend this summer MON might just walk because with Larsson leaving and a few others getting old, MON will need a big war chest and believe me the Celtic board are a miserable lot when it comes to spending money so you never know, if he gets the right amount of money he will stay but if not then anything can happen.
Mourinho has done a great job at Porto and the guy reminds me of MON with the way he reacts on the side of the pitch and he also seems to get a lot out of his players, yes I would be very happy with him if MON was not available.

Press report have again linked us to Maurinho although Rick Parry have somewhat denied it, which is understandable.

We know Maurinho would love to coach in Premiership and was quote saying...
'Liverpool are a team that interests everyone' ... 'Chelsea does not interest me so much because it is a new project with lots of money invested in it.'

Agreed with Stan above that both MON or Maurinho will be good for the club.  MON and his backroom stuff have learned from the wise old man himself and can squeeze more out from this present side. Maurinho himself have make Porto into an elite European club in just a couple of season, so if we do qualify for CL next year, Maurinho might be a better choice ?

Porto coach Jose Mourinho has admitted that he has received two offers from Premiership clubs - but insisted that he has no intention of leaving his current club.

Rumours of talks with Chelsea were dismissed by Mourinho - whose side knocked Manchester United out of the UEFA Champions League this season.

"It's not true that I have had a meeting with [Chelsea owner Roman] Abramovich," insisted Mourinho.

"Neither is it true that I missed a scheduled meeting with him.

"I have two offers from English clubs, but I have to underline that I am happy at FC Porto and have no reason to leave."

Porto can clinch the Portuguese Superliga with a victory at the weekend - and Mourinho feels that this would allow his side to concentrate on Europe.

"This is our match point," added Mourinho. "It will allow us to concentrate on the Champions League and the Portuguese Cup."

Liverpool have moved swiftly to insist that they are not one of the clubs to have made an offer.

Manager Gerard Houllier has been under fire this season, but chief executive Rick Parry slammed suggestions that they had approached Mourinho.

"Contrary to press reports, Liverpool have not made any approach or offer to Porto coach Jose Mourinho. The story is simply not true," Parry told Liverpool's official website.
Interviewer:       'Would it be fair to describe you as a volatile player?'
David Beckham: 'Well, I can play in the centre on the right and occasionally on the left side.' (Man U)
