It's certain that over the next 3 or 4 years Chelsea will win more trophies than anybody else. In the long-term, if Abrhamovic sticks around it's still pretty likely. What is equally certain is that the Chelsea squad will be littered with players who fail to fulfill their career potential having made the mistake of signing for money purposes.
Was Scott Parker wise to sign for Chelsea? He was on the fringe of the England team when he went there. Now, only the barcodes are prepared to take the huge gamble on his salary and fee, in the hope he can become the player he was and remember how to actually play the game. Was SWP right to go there, will he get a game? Sure these guys get huge salaries, like as not SWP will play in the last four games of the Prem. His every touch will be given an Ole` by the crowd and these four appearances will mean he will pick up a Premiership winners medal. Of his 10 appearances that season, he will probably remember the one away to Bolton best, the one where he scored twice in the 5-0 win.
At the end of the season is the World Cup. Any chance SWP had of being included in the starting X1 disappeared the minute he signed for Chelsea. Beckham was probably the happiest man around.
Trophies? if you want to win a s many as possible then Chelsea is your best bet. Glory, honour and immortality? Join a team where you will play regularly, where they aren't just a collection of everyone else's best players and do something special there. If your home-town club is capable of winning the biggest trophies in the land, then stick around and make yourself some history.
