dont care if i get stick. its the logical ending. why would rafa let our best player go to the club he loves?

i hope it doesnt happen, i really do... but... u gotta think it through

It's possible, but Rafa doesn't seem like the sort of guy who would pack up and leave when the job isn't finished. He's said that he wnats to stay for 15 uears, although I suppsoe if he is a fan of Rela Madrid and they came knocking in the future it would be very tempting for him.

I believe that he has really realised how wonderful this club is though, and tbh I can't see him leaving for a long time.

This Gerrard thing has been going on too long, we had it last summer and now this summer, surely contract talks are mainly about money and we'll never be able to offer as much as Real so he may as well pack his bags now if talks aren't going to well, all I know is that if he stays I don't want this again next summer if Real start offering money again

There is something going on, thats for sure, its strange how we haven,t signed anyone yet? i think moores/parry need to sell gerrard to give rafa the funds to bring in new players so much for all the promises they made at the end of last season eh? if gerrard is allowed to go then moores/parry should hang there heads in shame. They will no doubt blame gerrard for wanting to go, if you ask me i when it comes to moores/parry puting their hands in their pockets then they will look to get funds through other means rather than use their own?. :oh:

Lets get things in perspective here.  The reports saying that The gerrard talks had hit a hitch came from the s*n FFS.  So we all know how much bollox they talk.

The BBC website says that reports saying the talks hit a hitch are not true.  I know who i believe

Yeah it's says it on Teamtalk.com:

Steven Gerrard's Liverpool contract talks have reportedly hit crisis point with the Anfield skipper "very tempted" to join Real Madrid.

Champions League glory against AC Milan just over a month ago seemed to have persuaded Gerrard that his long-term future lay on Merseyside.

But now according to The Sun he is disappointed the club did not agree new terms straight after the Istanbul triumph.

Kop bosses held another round of talks on Friday, but according to the tabloid they hit their lowest point yet.

Club officials now fear Gerrard could now see his future in Spain with Real, who are believed to be prepared to offer a staggering pay packet of £150,000 per week.

The Bernabeu outfit have offered £20m plus Argentine central defender Walter Samuel in a bid to make Liverpool part with their most prized asset.

But boss Rafa Benitez slammed that deal as "unacceptable".

Real have also said Luis Figo can join Liverpool on a free transfer if he can agree terms with the Anfield club.

We couldn't come close to £150k a week, I dunno about Samuel cos I'd prefer £35+ for him which I still think is cheap for one of the best midfielders in Europe who is going to get better!!!!!!!

Why does anyone give creedence to these low life journo stories? If stevie goes on TV and says "I'm tempted by Real" I'll believe it but until then it's ALL made up. And as for the doubts posted here about Rafa - get real - he's a total professional - he wouldn't even consider stitching us up so he could go to Real, not that the board would allow it to happen anyway.
Steven Gerrard will sign a new contract soon. But as I've said before it will make NO difference to the number of stories about him leaving. It makes me sick but we will have to live with it as long as he plays for us - which will be for many years
