Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'm not even worried about Gerrard leaving cos I'm 100% sure he'll stay, if he leaves after us winning the CL then he's not the person I thought he was and were better off without him if he isn't commited, it needs sorting though cos if he did leave and we got £30m - £40m then we'd need to go shopping quick.

Yep this saga needs to be sorted one way or the other ASAP, but i did think just after the CL Final, if any time is a good time for him to leave it would be now (for him!) because he could leave a a Hero and it could possibly soften the blow (for us) if h left like that, as he would have won us the big one.

But with the interview the other day the words he said were positive (even if his body language wasnt) and i think and very much hope that he knows he has plenty more that he can acheive as CAPTAIN of Liverpool, as he hasnt been Captain that long as it is.

To me it wouldn't make sense if he left now. He has constnatly said he wants to win trophies with us, and that he is reluctant to leave. Well, we have just won the European Cup, have the possibilty of great players joining the sqaud, and of course Rafa at the helm.

Liverpool is a club on the rise, and surley Stevie can see that the league title isn't far away.

its not a case of slow, if you want the best players, it takes time.

Biscan is in talks with Fenerbahce of Turkey. It's their second attempt to get him after five years ago when he chose to come to us rather than going to them from Dinamo Zagreb.

As for Gerrard, lets just wait and see. All players are either on holiday, World Cup qualification duty or playing in the Confederations Cup. Paper talk can drive us mad, but there is no reason to believe that there is a problem unless Gerrard himself states there is one. Yes, it is a concern that Madrid have confirmed they have a transfer budget of 110millon to spend this summer and we know they need a new central midfielder, but with Lampard coming top of a pole of players Real Madrid fans would most like to see at the Bernabeau next season, perhaps we have little to worry about.

In my last post I meant Poll not Pole!!!!

Yep - Miguel and also Real Madrid 20 year old winger, Juanfran. We have been after Juanfran ever since Benitez got here. He is a local Madrid lad and suppose to be amazing, but with Madrid's obsession for Galactico's staring in the midfield, he isn't getting a look in.

tribalfootball.com - June 16, 2005

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has joined the race for Benfica defender Miguel.

The Portuguese full-back, 25, is one of the most wanted men in Europe, with Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and CSKA Moscow all keen.

Now Liverpool are in the hunt as manager Benitez tries to speed up his transfer dealings ahead of next month's Champions League qualifiers.

Miguel, who would cost around £4million, was a regular for the Portuguese champs last season, with two goals in 22 starts.

His agent Jean Musampa said: "I am aware of the major interest in Miguel from a number of clubs. We will wait and see what happens if Benfica receive any offers."

Liverpool in for Real Madrid whiz Juanfran
tribalfootball.com - June 16, 2005

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has made a move for Real Madrid midfielder Juanfran.

The Spain U21 star is rated one of the brightest talents of his generation and almost joined Chelsea 18 months ago while Claudio Ranieri was in charge.

Real are reluctant to lose Juanfran, but the youngster knows he has to move on to kickstart his senior career and a switch to Liverpool could suit him.

Cggy, I think i would prefer getting players i've never heard of.
That way I don't have too many expectations and when/if they shine i'll be ecstatic.
