Right, a few of us seem to agree that with his scoring record, aimar could not be played as a 2nd striker. Fair enough
If he was to drop back further, that would mean dropping gerrard or alonso (or hamann if he's playing). With his small stature he's unlikely to cut it in centre-mid in the prem as well, so this is a no-go IMO.
He isn't a winger and I haven't ever seen him deployed out wide, so thats probably a no-go as well.
So even if he is world class (despite the fact he hasn't been for 2 years) and even if he had a good assists ratio (which we can't find stats for), where would we play him???
And before you say we need strength in depth (which i agree we do), do you really think he is gonna come here and sit on the bench?? That is the very reason he's considering leaving Valencia.
And i know ive mentioned this before, but seriously, if he was that good why haven't the other top spanish clubs been making noises about him like they do with joaquin and did do with alonso?? The reason is that they see him on a more consistent basis and don't think he's good enough
