injuries r nothing new
we arnt the worst hit injured team of all time
and i hate it when people say thats what causes all our problems
this seems to have been the excuse for the past 3 years
other teams cope
we didn't under houlier because we had no talented squad players to slot right in
I'm sure our new manager will change all this

"an excuse is just a well thought out lie"

- not sure who said that, but i believe it to be so.
If something can or cannot be done, it is a reason.

I have a feeling this topic was heading towards Houllier being in the same position last season for a long time wiht just Heskey up front for a good while,... at least we  had Heskey last season, someone with a bit of experience. I feel sorry for Mellor and Pongolle, its time for these lads to become men.... fast

Bit silly this thread really.

are we trying to say that we should be getting the same results with no first choice strikers, as we would with them in the team? given the fact that we dont always win even when we have our first choice strikers out there. surely this is at a disadvantage when they're not there at all?

and that thing about excuses is abit silly aswell.  PLain and simply, you cant expect Liverpool to do as well without any first choice strikers, as would with them available.
if you do expect them to as good then you are saying that you would be happy with a strike force of Mellor/Pongolle/Kewell/Garcia  in whatever partnership.

Even when we had Cisse and Baros fit, we're all agreed we need another striker to make us BETTER, that must mean without one we are WORSE, and that must mean that without ANY, we are EVEN WORSE.

But i do agree that the players should give 150% in these next games, to give us a good chance of winning.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

The best thing is to accept that Baros is out and we are doomed.

If we prepare ourselves for draws/defeats against Boro,
Monaco and Arsenal, then we will not be as p1ssed off when they come.

Injuries not an excuse? But, what kind of injuries? Does it include injuries over all the the main strikers?
"Injuries not an excuse" may only be accepted to only motivate the team, but to me, yes, loosing two world strikers, whom one of them is the leading liverpool scorer and the latest world cup top scorer is a proper excuse for us playing under par.

If we had the luxury of 4 top class strikers or double class cover in each position then injuries would be less of an excuse. The fact is we do not so its a major blow to the club. Even teams with cover miss their main forward. Fact is we lost Owen on the eve of deadline day leaving us with only 2 proven forwards. They are both out long term. I think we all know that whats left really is not enough and that its likely results will suffer until January. Lets hope its damage limitation and we can still be alive in all competitions by then.

I can see both sides - but let's be honest, injuries occur in every team
The issue is - why do they impact on us more so than Highbury Scum, Manure or Chelski.
Simple answer - our squad is not good enough to compete at this time
I believe RAFA given time and some resources, will sort this out.
In the mean time - like other people our saying, we just have to get on with it.  Who know's, maybe one of the youngsters will suprise us & stand up and be counted.
I'd give Mellor a go - with lots of creativity in support (Gerrard, Alonso, Garcia, Kewell - and see how we go.
Even if we had Chelski's money today - we still wouldn't be able to do anything till January
LETS KEEP THE FAITH & SEE WHAT THE BOYS CAN DO !!!!
