Very worried about gerrard leaving

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I know this is from a different perspective, but in Australia, last year Port Power won the championship in the Aussie Rules code. We were so happy, the players were ecstatic. One main figure who played in the midfield had for 2 seasons, was up in the air about staying. He originally hailed from Western Australia, and was playing in the team that was from South Australia. He was the heart of our side, he was the engine in our engine room. He was Port Adelaide. When we won the Grand Final, he said that night over a few beers that he couldn't imagine leaving us. A week later, he left to play with the Dockers in Western Australia. Our team got nothing in exchange. The difference here is that if Stevie decides to leave after thinking muchly about the situation, we will get compensated for it. HUGELY. We had to accept and move on when Josh left, and now, sure, he gets jeered when he plays us, but at least Stevies departure will be cushioned with lots of money. Lets hope that whatever club does land Stevie, we get money, and we do not back down by giving them 5-10 years to pay the sum off.

I don't think this is necessarily true. We are not talking about Ashley Cole or Rio Ferdinand here.

Can Gerrard really be described as a money grabbing mercenary? I don't think so. Not the way he played at times this season, and they way he dragged us back into the final. Is he like Dalglish and Rush when he considered leaving a Houllier- weakened Liverpool because he needed a bigger stage?

Fortunately, Benitez’s arrival was enough to stop Gerrard, thankfully, although the press still hounded the poor man for the rest of the season because of it.

If you look at it, Liverpool football club have two great Scousers in Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher. Whilst they both have a hunger to make Liverpool a better team, their personal aims mean that one is hailed and respected as a god amongst us, whilst the other is merely accepted.

Not Stevie St, but Alex shop a holic oh i want houses everywhere Curran  :D  Same as Colleen with Rooney you cant tell me shes with him for anything else but money, designer shops the both of them live in, big houses villas, big flash cars, Stevies no looker either, so what does Alex see in him? The dosh thats it. she doesnt mix with any of the Liverpool players wives or GFs, but fitted right in with lampards one, terrys one, and Victoria beckham ???
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Was sad to see the story in the paper on Sunday but i'm still confident the lad will stay and sign a new deal.

After the final he admitted his head hadn't been right this season and his form had suffered as a consequence. He then went on to say he would put that right and we'd see a different player next season.

I simply can't see him walking away this summer.

Aw for christs sake Ciggy , I was just feelin' comfortable about Stevie G an you start me worryin' again .

Personnally I'm 99% sure he'll stay .He always voiced his reason for maybe moving on was because he wanted to win things, well they don't come much bigger than the the cup he's just won. It would be hard for him to leave now . Espescially with Owen and Ashley Cole on their way to us .  :D

He's :censored: up there then hasn't he.

If he goes he's only after money. Simple as that.

If he stays he meant what he said.

I think he'll stay. For the first time since last summer, i haven't been worried, i really believe he rediscovered his love and pride for the club when we were 3-0 down in that final. It shown in the second half with probably one of the greatest champions league performances of all time.

If we going to forever have the team disrupted by whether he is going or staying lets hope he bloody goes and we get a packet for him. I rather not see him go but i sick of the player seems to have become bigger then the team and Rafa already hinted that constant sort of speculation has hurt the team last season
FFS we just won the Champions league and still this constant soap opera gets played out
Funny though  to think he was getting a Kewell like crucifixation just a few months ago before the whistle had even blown on the League cup final
There are also  two other words that you really have to think of.... Michael Owen
Grass aint always greener on the other side
Forever Red in this life and the next

I'd like to think that Stevie's career decisions dont hinge on his partners social life! I dont think he'd move to Madrid so his girl can hook up with Posh (then he'd be stuck with Beckham!)

I'm confident he will stay, especially after hinting that he was staying and loved the club, if he were to make a U-turn now and leave it would leave a bad taste with the supporters that love him! and I dont think he'd want that, no matter the money.

said in a similar thread yesterday he won't be going - for all the reasons above plus he loves this club. As he's one of the worlds best players, there will be almost constant speculation about him - and it won't stop just because he signs a new contract either. It makes me sick personally, as all the stories can only undermine the lad, but there's not a lot we can do, except keep showing him that we want to keep him.............

This is going to sound silly but it might be best to sell him now.   If come the first day off the season he hasnt signed a new contract, I would sell him straight away.  We have been had by McManamen and M Owen just because we thought they where going to sign a new contract.   Liverpool Football Club is bigger than anyone player.  If Gerrard was to stay without signing a new contract we would get ripped once again.  Where as we would get 30 millon plus now for him.  Would we hell us like get anywhere near that amount if he stays without signing an then decide's to go in the future.

If he signs a new contract ill be over the moon but, if he dosnt take the money.

Yeah, Gerrard's missus was a well known money grabbing bird before she hooked up with him.  I know a few lads who could verify that.

Back on topic though, doesn't mean I think he'll leave.
