Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Istanpool » Fri May 13, 2005 1:36 pm

Hi guys! Just registered here to see who would be coming to Istanbul.

I am natural-born Galatasaray Fan and will be supporting Liverpool on May 25. Got the ticket already (110 Euro) and do not give a penny to black marketeers ( I saw some guys are asking for 500 pounds!!, these should be bloody Fenerbahce guys!)

I have some things to say you pals, first thing Liverpool should do on the pitch is to stay 11 players until the end of the game (especially Gerard!). Do not forget Italians are tricky on these issues (i.e. Gattuso)

The second thing Red men should do is not to lose the concentration even for a second! You saw what Dutch guys did during extra time.

There is nothing else to do!. This is Istanbul and we will not Italians to win.

Do not forget to bring your scarf. We will change.

P.S. Pls tell me a safe site to download "you will never walk alone". We will accompany!

Go Red Men..

Cheers!

The best way you can take to Istanbul is via Germany.
The price for return ticket Istanbul - main airport in Germany such Frankfurt, Munchen, Dusseldorf is 250 Euro (Turkish Airlines). Frequent flights available.

I think it safe to assume:

               Dudek

Finnan Hyypia Carragher Troare

Garcia Alonso Hamann Riise

              Gerrard

               Cisse/Baros

Unless Benitez has a surprise up his sleave then I think that will be the team, the only area of debate is the main striker postion.

Other more unlikely varinaces could be Kewell making it into the first team, and Garcia playing behing the main striker with Gerrard moving to the right.

nice to have a full team available just in time for the Champions League final!

I think our midfield will be strong, especially if Kewell can force his way into the starting 11 and play on the left wing.

The main possibilities in descending order:

4-5-1

                    Dudek

Finnan  Carragher  Hyypia  Traore/Riise
                    Hamann
Garcia  Gerrard  Alonso  Riise/Kewell

                   Baros/Cisse

4-4-1-1

                   Dudek

Finnan  Carragher  Hyypia  Traore/Riise

Nunez  Gerrard  Alonso  Riise/Kewell
                   Garcia
                 Baros/Cisse

4-4-2

                   Dudek

Finnan  Carragher  Hyypia  Traore/Riise

Garcia  Gerrard  Alonso  Riise/Kewell

               Baros  Cisse

It is safe to say that Rafa will pick the first formation with more or less the same players.

Milan formation will be this:

                                    Dida
               Cafù     Nesta           Stam      Maldini

                                    Pirlo
                      Gattuso           Seedorf

                                   Kakà
                     Shevchenko      Inzaghi

agree with your "classical" suggestion; 4-4-2... I would play riise on the leftback though... kewell on the left wing.. if we can get him to the form he sometimes had at leeds, then we'll win this final.. for sure...

We've used 4-5-1 for most of the competition so I wouldn't change the formation:

.                    Dudek

Finnan     Carragher    Hyypia     Traore

              Hamann      Alonso

       Garcia       Gerrard       Riise

                      Baros/Cisse

I reckon that team(Lfc team) is stronger than AC.Pirlo and Kaka are rubbish they are scared of the ball they was in the 2nd leg in psv.I think Kaka was better than Pirlo though

i think we should drop traore as he is better for games where we are using more defensive formations. hopefully we will use tactics similar to the home game against juve with two up in le tallec and baros, but obviously with cisse replacing le tallec. also i feel keeping cafu back can be key to stopping one of milans outlets so if kewell looked sharp today i would play this:

              dudek
finnan carra hyppia risse
garcia gerrard alonso kewell
            baros cisse

i think this would surprise milan as they see us as a defensive side but if we hit them early we can always bring on didi or igor to sure things up. they are both professionals and although being dissapointed to not start will understand the tactics. baros will leave if he doesnt start which isnt neccesarily a bad thing if moro and djibril (2 goals today!) start playing

Form is temporary but class is pernament. Milan have been the favourites in the competition, don't underestimate them just because they are in poor form.

Juventus can now win the Seria A but I'm worried that Milan might bounce back against us.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Our formation has worked in the CL, no need to change it in the finals.

but weve rarely put out the same team twice in a row this season a.b, and our best performance against an italian team was when we attacked juve with two up
