Why is Smicer above Nunez in the pecking order?

this is my take.....it is fated.

we are fated to become the worst liverpool team ever to win the champions league...... I don't give a ****** about the league position anymore. If we win, we win. But I rather win the champions league. With the season we have been having, i would not risk Baros, Garcia, Riise & Biscan (give him a contract).

This would be my team against boro.

                          Dudek
        Finnan   Carra   Pelle   Warnock
        Nunez    Gerrard  Welsh  Kewell
                  Morientas   Cisse

I pick kewell & cisse to give them more match practice.

This is just my opinion though. So far everything is going according to my prediction.

You must be insane.

Welsh?

He is the absolutely worst player I have ever seen in a Liverpool midfield. His abysmal performance at Palace must surely make him a no-way-never player for quite some time. He must improve in every departement if he is going to play for LFC again.

The LFC reserve team and U18 team have been absolutely shockingly bad recently. the reserves with potential LFC players like Welsh, Whitbread, Mannix, Potter, Raven, Otsemobor and Partridge lost 5-0 at City last week. The team has won only 6 out of 28 games and will probably finish bottom of the table. This is totally unacceptable. The young players are now proven losers, and they will lack the fighting spirit and mentality you see in winners. And they are 34 points behind Man U.

U18 is even worse. They have just won 5 out of 28 games. They are 35 points behind the Man U youngsters. This means there will probably be a long wait before anything close to decent comes out of the academy. I am horrified by the negligence of youth development in the club.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.

banana rama..... i have already said i don't give a sh1t about our league placing....I just don't wanna risk losing key players for the 2nd league....... In fact, the below would be my team given how alonso won't be playing in the 2nd league. If josemi was fit i would play him ahead of finnan even.

let me say it again. I DON'T GIVE A HOOT ABOUT LEAGUE PLACING. All i want is the champions league. becos...it is easier to win it then finishing 4th at the moment....

What in the hell? Did you watch the match yesterday? If so then you should had seen that Kewell was absolutely horrible, he has no match fitness at all [he should at least play in some reserve games] and even if he had it he would still be horrible.

Welsh? Did you not see the performance against Crystal Palace?

Ooops! I didn't see this thread and started a new one earlier this evening. So i've cut & pasted my original thoughts below.

With all the Euro excitement I'd practically forgotten we have a game vs Boro this weekend. The pressure is off to some extent when it comes to the league following last weeks result at Palace and the return with Chelsea now the be-all and end-all of our season.

In fact i wonder if those of you who placed league position above reaching the Euro final would have been calling for a full strength LFC to play this weekend with Tuesdays return leg in mind?

Anyway - We won't be seeing a full strength team this weekend. In fact i wouldn't be surprised to see Rafa rest every player he has in mind for 90mins in Tuesday. Of course Alsonso, Pelle and Nando will be in. I imagine Hamman, Cisse and Kewell will all get some time vs Boro and i'd love to see Whitbread get a game to give Sami and JC a much deserved rest. Should also be a good opportunity for the likes of ALT, welsh and maybe Raven to get a start in the league.

I still fancy us to get a result, 2-1 the Pool.

Jesus people! are you nuts!?! Screw the blo.ody league right now. I don't care if it's mathematically possible. It is VERY unlikely we will finish in 4th this season.

Six months ago winning the European Cup was a pipe-dream and 4th was the far more realistic likelyhood. Now it's the other way round. We've got a real shot at this trophy. I don't want us to f.uck it up chasing the pipedream that is now 4th place.

Our reserves have beaten Boro once already this season. They can do it again. For me the big players have bigger fish to fry on Tuesday night.

I cant stand this rubbish of resting players. we need a strong team and they are paid enough to play 2 games a week! the poor little lambs.

Play alonso and Morientes and pellegrino anyway, cause they wont be playing come tuesday.

One thing to note is...

Chlesea have a hard game kicking off late V bolton on Saturday at 5:15pm, so they will be f*cked come tuesday if they play a strong team, cause they i gonna get a hard game at anfield.

Simple fact - Our performances after midweek European matches this season have been shocking. Are you telling me the players won't be in better shape for Tuesday night if they get a full six days rest?

Another simple fact - This is the clubs' biggest game in 20 years. Why risk injury to one of our big players for what is essentially a longshot (getting 4th spot)

As for Chelsea - Mourinho might be alot of things but he isn't stupid. I would be very surprised if he didn't rest a few for the Bolton game on Saturday.

Boro are one of the few teams who look more knackered than Liverpool on Saturday's. They played too on Wednesday at Newcastle in a thrilling 0-0  ???

Alonso plays but the rest of the midfield from Wednesday will probably be rested with maybe the exception being Biscan. Riise is known for his stamina so may well start but i believe we can win this game with a few missing and lets face it, given our form post European midweek games a few fresh legs may reap dividends.

Not that much of a longshot. you have to remember that everton ave to pick up points from remaining games, and we have 2 home games out of three which we should win, and beat arsenal too away!

hee hee! well maybe not but we are the European champions elect!

Goonies never say die!

Everybody seems to have a very short memory...we will only have 2 days rest between Boro and Chelsea, the same as before the Juve match, and our players were knackered by about 60 minutes and we were holding on for the rest of the match.

We have almost no chance of getting 4th place....we could win all the rest of our league games and STILL finish 7 points behind Everton!  Whereas if we win our next 2 Champions League games, we WILL be European Champions...we should be resting as many players as possible for the Boro match!!
