Babbel is one of my favourite players of the Houllier days.

I was very upset when he failed to make the cut at Pool after illness.

He told German magazine Kicker that he'd love another shot at Anfield.

What do people think?

He was also one of my favourite players, and when he came back aganist Sunderland he looked great, but once the adrealine had weared off it was clear to see that he wasn't the same player.

not sure, maybe leave it till the end of the season so he can get properlly fit again then playing well

yeah it's a shame he was superb during the treble season. We have finnan now though who looks very promising indeed.

Babbel set himself some strong standards after his 1st season with us. If he has recaptured the form ,fitness and desire of that 1st season then it would be great to see him back.
Haven't seen enough of him at Blackburn to pass comment. All I know is that in the few games he has played for us since the summer of 2001 he has been a mere shadow of the player in the treble season.
Mind you I fear that the above discussion is probably irrelevant whilst Houllier is at the helm. He wasn't particularly positive about Babbel towards the end of last season and given his fondness for certain favourites I cannot see a way back however well he may be playing.

He did well for us but I think it would be silly to try and turn back time. The illness was unfortunate, but I think he isn't the player he was

Today's papers are saying his on his way to Germany in the summer, Hamburg or Schakle.

I hope he comes back he is class, better than the likes of Biscan. But while Houllier remains in charge its not going to happen.

im sure marcus would jump at the chance to return to liverpool, but in my view (with no disregard to babbel) i think he hasn't been the same since he came back from that freak disease and probably wouldn't perform to liverpools high standards.

...he is without a doubt better than biscan and i reckon he would still return under gerard, but the question still remains, if he returned?(emphasis on the if) would he break straight into the first team, or would he be left to rot in the reserves?

I think Babbel played the odd game in the centre and did quite well. At the time i trusted GH's judgement in letting Babbel go to Blackburn but now i'm not so sure. I've seen Babbel play a couple of times for Blackburn this season and he has impressed me. He had Alan Shearer in his back pocket playing at CB just before xmas - then i looked to see who was playing CB for us at that time and shock of horrors - it was Biscan! Maybe there will be a way back for him if le boss goes.
