Champions league dilema - ?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby kingofthegreen » Wed Mar 09, 2005 2:49 pm

After watching both games last night down the pub, i noticed how many liverpool/everton fans reacted to Man u and chelski's results. It seemed that most were more than happy that man u went out to a strong milan side and also how p1ssed they were when chelski went through. some were so bitter about Chelski that made me wonder if these guys knew anything about football or was it just sheep talk? i aint defendin chelski, but to overturn barcelona is deserved of some credit? maybe?

I love LFC, and cant stand to see them at defeat or play another poor performance. Ofcourse, i want liverpool to go all the way in CL, nothing would make me more happy. having said that, in previous CL when LFC were not in it, i would be happy to see another 'english/british' side do well!

My dilema is this;
I cant stand Chelski, But if LFC and ARSEnal wernt able to progess tonight and the only english team to progress was Chelski, is it right to wish them luck and hope they do well or is it right to slag them off and wish for a foreign team to win it?!

Id rather see a team win the championship, than buy it. Thats why it was much better to watch Porto win last year than Real every other year.

i think everyone likes to see the underdog win. but im just watching the football, i dont really care too much how much the team cost..........you could argue that LFC cost quite a bit more than other teams in CL?! it dont stop me enjoying watching some good football........

i must say that i was happy to see chelski's win due to the way they lost the last game to them, i was happy to see that they got a good ref and even more happy to see him blow up 1 min before he should have done(just rubs a bit of salt in it)

United and Chelsea fans will be thrilled if we get dumped out of the competition tonight.  Thats just the way it is.

I was so happy to see United getting beaten last night.  Fergie uttered a few weeks back that you can't claim to be a great team unless you win back to back league titles....this was obviously said to annoy Wenger.

However, I reckon you can't claim to be a great team unless you win european cups back to back.  Liverpool, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Ajax, Bayern Munich and Forest have all succeeded in doing this.  Despite shelling out millions Fergie has only reached one final in nearly 20 years and they only won that by default.

well man utd are better than us, we all know that, at the min they are, but they are losing it slowly and we are slowly rebuilding so hopefully we'll pull them back

but chelsea do deserve credit for that performance, it was unllike chelsea, but the goal of the competition has to be ronaldinhos effort, what a goal that was

i find myself doing that, last nite, the chelsea match i felt as though it was liverpool, i was shitting myself, y i dot know, im a reds fan through adn through

who didn't? :D   :D

the funniest thing is, if the game was still being played now, manure still wouldn't have scored.

they were useless.

U think man u or chelsea fans will want us to win tonight?

Doubt it.

I dont think chelsea deserve much credit for last night at all.  Barcelona outclassed them in midfield and had several chances to kill the game off before terry scored.  In addition, terry's goal should never have been allowed as carvalho fouled valdez.

They got the luck when they needed it and it has been the story of their season.

Remember the pen we should have had against them on new year's day, remember Henry's miss against them at 2-2 at highbury, the pathetic keeping error by friedel to allow them a 1-0 win v blackburn.

Its just their season, but their luck wont last for ever

If chelsea were the only english club in the CL i would still hope they get knocked out.
Its not about what country the team comes from as the modern day squads show(Hardly any brits in a decent team nowadays :( )
And like has been said before they have bought this season next season will be the one to tell how good a manager Moroniho is.
Anyway C'mon you Red's

United have only won one knock out game since winning the cup in '99 and they still insist on being mentioned in the same breath as Madrid and Milan.
