Good result - v. Watford (h)

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Good result, a 1-0 victory over a side who beat two Premiership teams earlier this year in the cup. Even though we should had scored more goals I think it's good enough as our starting 11 haven't played for a week and I guess their form isn't as good as it should be.

We got Man Utd this Saturday and I'm sure everyone is hoping for a good performance and three points over the Mancs. I also hope we sign Morientes and even Anelka by Saturday as it would be great to see them play against the scum.

Post your thoughts on today's game and your thoughts on what's t come this Saturday.

Yes a good result. What is was though was a demonstration if one was needed, that a team without a decent front player is only half the sum of its parts. I haven't been on here much recently and when I left the Mellor debate was rumbling on. Does anybody still think he is good enough? Baros completely transformed the whole nature of the game when he came on. Mellor suffers massively in comparison and I have to say the lad is totally out of his depth for me.
Jeez we need front players bad.

Hey welcome back BigMick nice to see you here again mate :)
And your right Mellor wont cut the mustard, he saved us with a few goals but I think he will maybe be gone by the end of the month.

Morientes would really help us out, we had chances today and if it was Morientes he would had scored. Baros looks like he is in form again and that's extremely good for us especially since we play Man Utd this weekend.

I know it wasn't all good of a performance but that's football. We outplayed Chelsea and lost, so performance really in my opinion does not matter as long as at the end we win.

Imagine a fit Baros and Morientes   have teams shakin in there boots, such a pity Alonsos injured we would be a really good team with Gerrard and Alonso in Midfield and Morientes and Baros upfront.
Im very dissapoionted at Garcia he was made to look so lightweight tonight he gave the ball away so often, or just got pushed off the ball, I know hes scored a few crackers but if hes cut out for the prem or not only time will tell :)
I will reserve my judgement on him and Nunez for another 2 months or so.

I don't know whats been happening with Garcia but he does not play well as a midfielder. That is a fact, he's best when he's played as a drop off striker. Nunez on the other hand is doing better and better imo and I think he will turn out to be an essential player to our squad.

the result is good, but to b honest we should be spanking them, the performance was poor in the first half and the 2nd half we improved thankfully and yes the performance as a whole, i reckon 1-0 was a good result

as gerrard said after the match we have to improve for the utd match

well we had our best spell for about the first 20 mins of the second half. apart from that we were poor, or at least not playing with the intensity of watford.

i chose the disallowed goal as my moment to go for a wazz, but from what i heard baros was onside and again we've fallen foul of a poor decision...

We should have put them to bed.

It wasn't as if the kids played for gods sake. They aren't even one of the best sides in the championship and we were missing Hyypia and Baros from the team thats likely to start against the Mancs.

Not good enough. Poor performance and gives us a potentially tricky away leg.

Kewell_7, your comments aren't appriciated either. If you don't give a toss about this cup, you aren't a true red.

performance was sub-standard, but Watford to their credit played very well, I can only hope we were saving ourselves for Manure on saturday.
