thats very true , Raffa isnt a fool  and knows exactly what he is getting for his money. As he said when he became manager , he built his team around Aimar and now he is doing the same around SG , so if he did that at Valencia   he must think very very highly of Aimar and just like Alonso has come to prove, Aimar could be a steal at 12 million euros, cheaper than Alonso come to think about it .   :;):

Aimar is also a great investment. If rafa can get the best out of him, real & chelsea will then bid 40 million euro for him :D

I'm very excited already. It would be awesome to have Aimar. At the same time, I think someone from the team will be going out as well. Maybe Harry Kewell......

8 million is a steal for  a player like him if he can reproduce his earlier form before he came to Europe.

Only thing is that supremely talented South Americans have a tendency to struggle in the EPL, more often than not, and exceptions are very few - Gilberto Silva (a very unsung hero who is very good at defensive midfield for a Brazillian, and he has been sorely missed by Viera) and Edu (but still not a regular at Arsenal), Juan Pablo Angel and Juninho. Of these, only Juninho is of a similar type to Aimar with a lot of trickery skills.

agreed..8 millions a steal for a class act like aimar.

I've never doubted his talent. Only problem is, can he survive the EPL?Might a bit lightweight for my liking (in EPL) but in europe he can bring us up to another level...

The real question we should be asking ourselves, is he the right player for us right now? Right now, I think its a luxury for us...cos we're better off spending the money on a central defender and striker..

Unless:D  of cos, rafa and parry have already lined up a striker, central defender and aimar for january...yummy!!! :p

I think he will survive b'cos we have a mixture of spanish players. If he alone, then it's very difficult for him to settle.

I always remember Aimar from when we've played Valencia in the past and he has completely split our defence in 2 ???

Yes, ssss, these South Americans come from a country which is not too cold and their football is less physical and slower. In the EPL, the referees let more physical challenges (which are part and parcel of the game) go by as compared to other parts of Europe.

Having said that, I think Spartak moscow has a Brazillian forward, Robson, who thrived while having to play in their harsh winter but then the Russian League is nowhere near as fast and furious and physical as the EPL. The likes of Cisse had a torrid time trying to adjust the the physical nature of the EPL. To me, he never adapted well enough and his injuries will mean that he may need more time yet if he ever comes back.

i guess if we don't get morientas, then rafa will go for aimar (Anelka is too ex i presume). If the fcuking madrid  team wants 7 million for morientas (when they paid us 8 million for a 24 yr old world class striker), then i say ****** moreintas, its his loss. Lets move on.

I think talk that South American football is not physical are wide of the mark. If Aimar can cut it there and is Spain he can play here. Argentinians are known for their physical approach to the game and I doubt that there is a national league anywhere thats not physical and fiercely competitive these days. I wouldnt have thought cooler conditions would hamper him either. Its a myth that theres no cold conditions in South America. Aimar is class and can play anywhere.
