Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

JBG, from what i know Mourinho is in the market for a right winger to aaccomadate his system. He would like cover tho so if robben or duff are injured he can still field 2 wingers. Joaquin is still likely IMO.He also only plays one up front so i cant see him going for morientez. Arsenal on the other hand are a whole different kettle of fish but wenger doesnt usually buy established players.

Betis have ruled out selling Joaquin in January, telling Chelsea to come back in for him next summer.

Mourinho has said that he wants an honest, hard working midfielder as cover for Lampard, Smertin and Tiago. The press say today that he tried to sign Czech fullback/midfielder Jaranick from CSKA Moscow on loan for the rest of the season but was rebuffed.

The only reason why I mentioned Chelsea and Moreintes in the same context is that Abramavich is a known fan of Moreintes, and wanted to sign him in the summer before Mouinho came on board, but Morientes wanted to return to Madrid.

i can't see morientes fitting into the system that arsenal and chelsea play. chelsea play with one up and it would seem daft to pay £24m for drogba and then bench him. arsenal don't play with a target man. infact they don't really play with an out and out striker.

It's not that surprising that we look likely to sign two strikers in my view. Nor is the sudden increase in the finance that seems available. Anybody casting their mind back to Cisse's stomach churning leg break against Blackburn wouldn't find it beyond the realms of possibility that he will never kick a ball again. If this was to be the case, then for sure we need two strikers and would be likely to recieve the insurance money for Cisse. Sources within Anfield will be well aware of the unfortunate Cisse's chances of recovery or not.

Excellent point. I may sound to optimistic but imo Morientes will surely sign for us. If money was the case, he wouldn't be saying anything and enjoying the life on the galactico bench.

John Barnes' Granny wrote:I agree Andy. I thought it was crazy two weeks ago when some people said we sign both players but from what I've heard, thats what the club is looking at.

if that happens Baros will be out the door by the end of the season.
