I will not sell? - For 40 million

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

JERMAIN DEFOE is a £20m target for Chelsea...and they are determined to land him on January 1, the first day of the transfer window.

Tottenham striker Defoe, signed from West Ham for £6million 10 months ago, would add massively to his £12,000-a-week pay packet as part of Chelsea's four-pronged trophy challenge.

So thats 50 mill for 2 players someone needs to do something about chelsea, they will buy who they want when they want
Gerrard will go as he will be guarenteed lifting the prem trophey at the end of the year, as they will win the league, there players are far supperior to any one else in the prem, its so not fair, they cant just keep continue buying the best players in the world, it wont give anyone else a chance of winning anything, even if we get took over.
We still cant match them on the money they have unless a billionair takes over our club, which I cant see happening :(
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

in all honesty stu you did say that if we can get 40 mill for him we should take it and increase the squad, even though you wouldnt really want Gerrard to go.
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

Just on your points:

1) Unfortunatly, it does not look like anyone can do anything about Chelski. Unless the Russian authorities can find something on him and freeze his assets, then we are stuck with him, but I honestly think it will only be until he gets bored.

2) I understand there is a good chance they will win the league, but will mean the same as when Leeds won it, or when Forest won it after coming up the season before? I mean, buying it with a team of superstars is surely not he same as winning it with your home town team.

3) On the money front, few will be able to match them money wise, I would go as far as saying no one. However, the whole of football knows they have the cash, and it means "Chelsea Prices". I mean the right back ferrera, £22m ? If Xabi Alonso had gone to Chelski, I bet you would have seen a price of nearly £30m.

Bet their supporters will say..."Who cares, a win is a win and history will not differentiate if you win with a home town team or foreign mercenaries"

...the whole of football knows they have the cash, and it means "Chelsea Prices".

Then why are we still talking about £30M for Stevie...it should be £75M or more as Roman certainly won't mind...unless it is written into Stevie's contract that he could walk when a £30M offer comes in...

Thing that p.isses you off the most is they dont need gerrard, they only want him to either weaken us, or because they can buy who they want, ok he showed us loyalty last time, but I dont think he will again, but I guarentee if he does go there and win honours he wouldnt be half as happy as to win it with us.
Infact he might not even play good its not his childhood club, and he wont look as good as he really is with all them superstars around him.
I wanted to belt that dickhead Drogba in the face with his goal celebration, that dance and saying im bad what a t.it

Liverpool accepted the Chelsea bid last time only for Gerrard to back out last minute. They never turned it down. Whilst they are making all the right noises it remains to be seen if they can resist the temptation to take the money. Gerrard may also have changed his because people do change their minds. To be honest I am not convinced either way by Gerrard or Parry. I just cannot trust either of them on their word.

They might not "NEED" Gerrard but they will "WANT" him just the same...any team in the world will be better off with Gerrard in their first XI.

NEW QUIT FEAR OVER GERRARD No 'guarantee' he'll stay if Moores goes

By John Cross

LIVERPOOL chief executive Rick Parry last night admitted Steven Gerrard could be on his way out if chairman David Moores quits in the take-over battle.

England midfielder Gerrard - a big money target for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich - has already said he might have left last summer had it not been for Moores.

And now Parry has made it clear that building tycoon Steve Morgan's acrimonious bid to buy out the club could result in them losing their prize asset.

Parry said yesterday he was "extremely optimistic" skipper Gerrard would stay but warned there were "no guarantees".

Morgan, who has a personal fortune of more than £300million, has tabled a fourth offer worth £70m but has so far been defied by the Liverpool board.

But Parry added that Morgan's offer was "one of several being considered".

And he tried to make it clear that Morgan was not being frozen out by the board.

Parry said: "There is a proposal from Steve Morgan on the table and we are looking at it very seriously.

"We've had constructive dialogue with Steve over the last 12 months and that remains the case."

It now seems likely that lifelong Liverpool fan Morgan will only take control if Moores steps down.

And Gerrard took the extraordinary step on Friday of entering the boardroom battle to urge the chairman to stay in his job.

Gerrard was the subject of a £25m bid from Chelsea last summer.

And he was on the brink of leaving but said: "He (Moores) was in my thoughts when I reached my decision to stay.

"When I was having problems during the summer it was the chairman who was ringing me up all the time, reassuring me and doing everything possible to keep me here."

The issue of Gerrard is the latest chapter in the boardroom battle at Anfield, after a highly-charged and emotional confrontation between Morgan and Moores at last week's AGM.

Moores broke down in tears and admitted he was considering his position because he had found the turmoil of the last 12 months "unbearable".

The meeting descended into angry scenes after Morgan's wife Didy unexpectedly took the microphone and claimed the club's directors would prefer to do a deal with "the devil himself" rather than accept an offer from her husband.

And the feeling is growing in the Morgan camp that Liverpool will have explored every possible avenue before they choose to accept his money.

Morgan's bid has been the most bitter and public battle for control amid several offers this season.

There is also a mystery fourth interested party who has yet to turn a proposal to buy the club into a firm offer.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

 seen drogbas celebrations - wish someone had ve threw something-like a big water balloon full of ******. They are getting cocky and i can see a real attitude coming to their team. The blue United.  Saying that -they have a good manager who makes these stars play and keeps them happy which cant be easy :glare:

I believe he will get bored, once he wins the Prem, FA cup and CL he wil start putting his money into other things.  Once he wins the money will if not dry up but definately slow down.
There is a strong rumour that he will go into F1.
