"it's my ankle" - Kewell has slump excuse

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I hope it's true - what he's saying (although thats like saying I hope he's injured - which I don't )
anyway
I reckon once RAFA has his full team back to strength & possibly a new signing or 2 in January - then Kewell may get his wish whether he likes it or not
I'm not into slagging any of the boys off (with the exception of Diouf - who I had really high hopes for - but has seriously let the club down)
RAFA the GAFFA does not strike me as the sort of manager who has a high tolerence for poor performances (injury or whatever)
I see him looking at everything for the good of the team & with some of these young lads coming through - Kewell is probably going to face CRUNCH time early next year (Feb / March)
His destiny lies in his own hands
WILL THE REAL HARRY KEWELL PLEASE STAND UP (Hopefully someday soon)

i think ure bein abit too loyal m8 lol

giggs has been one of the best left wingers in the premiership 4 years but obiviously i want kewell 2 produce the form he can do, but as someone said if kewell was half fit, rb wouldnt play him and also if that was teh case that he was swanning around on holiday instead of getting the op, it proves he is a liar

He has improved of late.. I thought he played alright against Arsenal.. It makes me laugh the way everone calls Mellor the hero (rightly so) but Kewell is a villain when they both played very much the same.  It was Kewells tackle at the end of the game that lead the way for the super strike...
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

You see the half heartedness from him as hes scared to get injured, but it really is his own fault he should have done things the right way.
And maybe fans would be more forgiven.

Dalglish and co I agree with what you say but the fact here is he chose a promotional tour over an op

You don't have to be a genius to see how much the lad is struggling with the ball at his feet, i thought his general attacking play was pretty dreadful on sunday BUT, i thought he showed some bottle against the Arsse - he made a lot of tackles, challenged for and won countless headers and played a part in both our goals (again).
I would rather see him on the sidelines (or the treatment table if thats what he needs) right now but injuries to others mean it isn't possible. His form is woeful but the fact he never hides (or atleast he didn't on sunday) gives me some hope that he can, when fit, rediscover his form

Imo I think that the "ankle" is not the only reason why Kewell has been poor. He lacks major confidence. He can have all the skill and talent in the world but without any self-belief he will  continue to play poorely.

He gave it his all against Arsenal and there is no doubt about that but because he has no confidence in himself he has been poor by his standards. I reckon that a few goals will get him going if not then his future won't be Red for long.

I've been a major critic of Harry Kewell this seaosn but recently I'm beginning to doubt whether my criticism (or rather the reasons behind it) is justified.

I remember reading an interview with his national coach Frank Farina at the end of last season in which he said that Harry's ankle was wrecked. He had a number of problems with it throughout his career and he got a few bad knocks on it towards the end of last season, and when he played for Australia in an end of season game, his ankle was so bad his fitness had completely deteriorated and Farina was warning that if the problem wasn't arrested, Kewell's career would be over. He implored that Liverpool send him for further treatment and give him some time off.

As we have seen Kewell has played a lot for Liverpool this season yet his fitness and performances have been so poor that a large swathe of the Liverpool support (including me) have got on his back and accused him of arrogance, greed, selfishness and a lack of interest. If what Kewell has said is true and his ankle is still a problem, then there must be some element of sympathy for him.

I think Benitez needs to decide whether he should soon replace Kewell with either Warnock or Riise at left midfield until such time as Harry can go away from first team football and sort himself out. The problem is, at the moment Harry is required more as a forward than a left midfielder, and perhaps when Baros and Garcia return, Kewell should stay on the sidelines for a while in late December/early January?

I remember the articles RE the ankle before the close season, and Harry decided to go on holiday with his missus and Adele Silva instead of having the operation.

So it is only himslef he has to blame.

kewell is overpaid and is under performing, anyone can see that, i would love to see him produce the form we all know hes capable of, but if not we can't carry ppl from now on, so if hes not producing it, he has to go, but wait til end of the season see if he improves

i'd say let him take a rest for a month or two, surely an inexperienced youngster can play better than kewell's current form
