He sounds like a hustler. Private banker turned investment banker and married into money. His success as an investment banker was probably tied to his in-laws propping him up with millions for investment. Now he’s brought others in with real money and probably gets a percentage of the club for his hustling. If I were the owners I’d stay well away from this type, he’s here just to make money off the back of the club. My bet is this is all paper talk.

Read somewhere they want to include Jeff Bezos somehow too.

How unprofessional is that.... Instead of being a picture of confidence and stability two of the top three executives (and Werner is now less involved) are bailing and we have a new manager who must be wondering where the transfer strategy is coming from. Not very good optics.

Wouldn't want Bezos anywhere near us tbh. That Bhatia fella is at QPR 18 years and has brought them nowhere. Hard to see what value he will add to us. He has resigned from QPR so this must be close to happening.  Henry and Werner are in the twilight years so this is probably just the start of them selling off percentages here and there. If this crowd get 30% they will be in pole position when the time comes.

Edwards already gone and while Hughes departure isnt confirmed it is expected he will go at the end of the window. We just have to hope he's working on a few deals before then.

At the end of the day our owners are getting old and they’ve owned us 16 years and at some point there will be a change of ownership. They bought the club in 2010 for 300m and the club is now worth 4.5 billion and in a much better situation and they won everything they could, they will cash out at some point. We got lucky with them and I hope we get lucky with the next owners.

Sky News understands a consortium including the Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is closing in on a deal to buy a roughly one-third stake in Liverpool.

Sky News has learnt that Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the Anfield club's controlling shareholder since 2010, is preparing to make an announcement about a transaction as soon as this week.

Can’t help feeling nervous about this

FSG will continue to be main stake holder but wondering will they  gradually diulte themselves selling stakes of the clubs. Will end up being owned but multiple enterprises.

I read somewhere they have an option to take full control within 12 months.

I wonder if all those staff leaving had anything to do with this. This would have been discussed internally a while before the press reported it.

Read that as well Mate.  An option to buy for 8 billion dollars that can be exercised within 12 months. Think they will be exercising that option as well.

We will just have to wait and see what it means for the on field stuff which is what I care about mostly. I couldn't give a toss about already filthy rich people trying to make even more money.

My worry is when you buy something for 8b then what return do you expect? It probably means higher ticket prices, kit etc. The current owners found themselves a golden egg laying goose for the price they paid for the club. At 8b the goose still lays golden eggs but the cost of the goose is more than the price of gold. The upside at 300m was exponential, what’s the upside at 8 billion? Football really has become the plaything of the super rich.

When you look at American sports even though there's only country that plays them properly the contracts players get etc are even bigger than footy players get, thats because the US is such a big market.
I think Bezos et al sense that in the wake of the world cup America is starting to genuinely fall in love with footy, i think US sports fans want to join the rest of the world, they dont want their own sports any more they want to follow a sport which allows them to link hands across the ocean some of them were in tears when the WC ended and all the foreign fans went home,  Now if down the line fooy gets as big as say the NFL, and lets face it footy is a far, far better sport to watch than American footy, you try and watch an entire 3 or 4 hour American Footy game, most of it is roid cheats standing around chatting on the sidelines, if the American market does take off than 8 billion is going to seem like chickenfeed. Its not just the money though its the worldwide prestige of owning us. If we are really succesful under him he's going to become not only admired but incredibly influential in the biggest sport on the planet. Sport unlike politics is something people love.
