End of Season Squad Ratings

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Not a great year but how do you feel the squad rated this year.

Allison.  7.  Still our best by a mile but unfortunately still misses about 10 games with injury.
Mamadashvilli. 5.  Good stopper but poor footwork and distribution.
Woodman. 6. Look only a few games but did his best. Not one for the future though.

Bradley. 3. Just didn't play enough. Ability not in question but his fitness is. Might need to look elsewhere.
Frimpong. 4. Not impressed at all. 2 maybe 3 good cameos but the rest of it has been weak like his fitness.
Konate. 5. Mixed bag this season. Maybe contract issues affecting him but ridiculous we could lose him on a free.
Van Dijk. 7. Declining but still a good year for his age. Wins a lot of duels and our best threat from set pieces. Expecting him to be better next season is just daft.
Gomez. 5. Think Joe was available a lot more than we think but not in slots plans unless he had no choice.
Kerkhez. 5. Not a great season compared to his previous. A bit erratic at times and can see the Greek taking over if he doesn't step up.

Mc Allister. 5. Think a few will probably give him worse as got singled out a lot this season unfairly imo.
Szobozlai. 8. Clubs best player this season. Only one with a bit of go in him.
Wirtz. 5. A few good glimpses but over 38 games he's been poor. Hopefully it's an adaptation thing.
Jones. 5. Not as good as he thinks he is and shouldn't be a starter.
Endo. 4. Not good enough and like Gomez will only play if he's no other option.
Gravenberch. 5. Stick him at DM and if he doesn't like that then sell.
Nyoni. 5. Hoping to see him get more minutes this season but didn't happen as way down Slots pecking order.

Isak. 3. Just not a good year for him because of injuries. Unfair to write him off because of the price tag.
Salah. 5. Knew he'd decline this season but surprised it was off a cliff. Still one of the best players we have had in recent years and his stats every year showed that. Should have went last year tbh but is a legend nonetheless.
Gakpo. 2. OMFG what a waste of a jersey. Big year for him to show what he was about and he stank the place out. Worst player for every stat in the team.
Chiesa. 6. Imo not really given enough consecutive games to find proper form. He gets a cup game with a young side and if he didn't rip it up then it justified not playing him in the league. The 6 isn't for his ability but the fact that he gave 110% when given a chance. 5 mins here and there as a last resort is bound to have had an impact on his confidence.
Ngumoha. 7. Hes still raw and immature as a player but brought a wealth of excitement to games. Probably dribbled past more players than the rest combined all season. He just brought life to some games that where just so dull and lacking creativity.
Etitike. 6. Looks promising but lack of fitness holding him back. Just fell off in to many games this year..

Slot. 4. Really poor season which raises a lot of flags concerning his management style. Tactics, man management, fitness levels and motivation looked to be big issues this season. Out of everything when the going got tough and just limped into a CL spot in 5th. Another 2 games in that season and we would have lost that place based on our form. The standards dropped with the players we had and he has got nothing from the players we bought last season. Results matter the most but whats also important is how you get them.

Overall team. 4. Really poor go at defending the title that was surrendered before Christmas. Tactics are Tactics but desire, determination and willingness to fight for a win wasn't there. Thats on the players who at times looked like they couldn't be arsed. Whether they fully support the manager or not Is no excuse. That level of effort in games is not acceptable and needs changing now.

It's too depressing to go into it in such detail Red. I'll go with your team rating of 4 and Slot at 4. We never looked like building on last years success, from the off we were winning in the last 10 minutes and extra time. We never had a clear idea of how to win the league and like Amorim, Slot didn't adjust a strategy that wasn't proving correct. Slot's walking in dead man's shoes until Christmas.

I'd have to agree with Reg, I don't really have the motivation to rate this awful season. I'd say I pretty much agree with your ratings.

I'd just say that this mess of a season was also down to our new signings. Apart from Ekitike they all seem like flops and a downgrade to what we had last season. I was really worried last summer transfer window, when everyone was excited about Wirtz I had major doubts over his price tag in particular, and unfortunately it seems I was right. Isak is another that definitely wasn't worth the money. Even if he improves he'll never be fit enough to justify what we paid.
