Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:40 am

Well we've stopped the rot, this one on Sunday is away from home though. I'd go as far as to say any hopes of retaining our title rest on this game.
7 points is a sizeable gap but in the 3 points for a win era it's nowhere near title deciding, not in November. If we could back up those 2 wins against Villa and Madrid with another one against City it would make everyone, particularly Arsenal, sit up and take notice. It would be their worst nightmare in fact, the last thing they want.
So for me the title is on the line Sunday, how much do we want to retain it, i guess we'll find out on the day.

I hope they play open football and don’t park the bus like they did against Arsenal, how strange is that to say about a Pep side. Let’s not forget Pep Lijnders, what a w@nker

We did beat this lot last season on their ground, obviously things are a bit different this time, but with Arsenal playing away against a tricky Sunderland side this weekend, a win for us here might prove to be a turning point.

Biggest question mark for me is do we keep Wirtz in the starting line-up or go with Gakpo. Personally I'd keep the same side as against Real, Wirtz included.

Tough game indeed, Haaland is on fire and Pep like Slot will want 3 points to keep up with Arsenal. IF we win it will definitely mean we've figured things out somewhat, I.e reverting back to last season set up.

I'd play same side that played against Real, Wirtz pressed really well.

Win this, and it’s all to play for.

Arsenal dropped points today and a win would put us second, 5 points behind Arsenal.

Lose and I think our title challenge for this year is all but over.

Unless we can sort out the defense then we are not retaining the title. We have the 10th best defense with over a quarter of the season gone, unless we we go on an incredible winning run (which is possible)I cannot see this defense being good enough to win the title.

Thing's could change around pretty quickly though, sign Guehi in January and imo it's game on, because he's only 25/26 and not 35/36 Isak will 100 percent come good at some point as well, he's far too good a player not to and when he does the rest of the league had better watch out.
We need to still be in touch come January though, that's the key to everything, games like today's in fact all the games between now and January will probably decide the title.

Like previous seasons we play well against teams that “play football” but when we play teams that defend deep then rely on long balls we have more trouble. I’d suggest we could win this but still go and get unstuck in the next match against Forrest. That is why I’m curious to see how the two Peps play against us today, do they have the confidence to out play us or will he decide to defend like he did against Arsenal.

MASSIVE game today ! Win it and we're still in with a shout to push on and retain our title  :buttrock
Anything less won't be good enough  :(

Re Yakka's comment "Thing's could change around pretty quickly though, sign Guehi in January and imo it's game on"
It was all done and dusted until their manager stepped in  , subsequent interest from top teams in Europe about Guehi have me concerned as to whether the fella still has us as his preferred destination   :lookaround
