Well they sure got a lot of squad depth now. Not sure how much quality they've signed though.

Well, this window which started so well is turning into  a shambles soon. After selling a bunch of players and losing Jota, the club has had a lot of work to do and have done nothing for a long time now besides Ekitike. No solution to the Koate issue which weems to be that we let another player walk for free in the summer. Guehi deal seems to be off as we are supposed to rely on a kid from Italy? And we are very thin upfront right now after Diaz and nunez left and besides Isak there is nothing. We will suffer this season for our lack of squad depth if we are to participate in all 4 competitions.

I agree, not very happy with this window, we sold more key players than we brought in. I'm not even 100% sure the ones we bought are what we needed. I can see why we'd want someone like Wirtz (although I'm not certain he was necessary at all), but the money we spent on him could have gone to two different top players. Squad depth is very important, Arsenal seem to know that and are looking to sign even more players before the window closes.

IMO we need at least 2 more players (a defender and a forward) just to be on the same level we were last season. Otherwise I'd say we've gone backwards while spending a good amount of money.

I think we need a top defender, a top defensive midfielder (as we rely too much on Gravenberch) and possibly a forward. I think with Rio and Wirtz we could be ok up top. Defensively we will have issues (4 goals in two games is not good) and the best defense usually win titles and so far that’s Arsenal.

Newcastle finally sign some anonymous striker from the Bundesliga for a lot of money, so I guess that means Isak is coming to us soon. Someone said in a different thread it's probably too late to pull out of the Isak deal now since it will not look good when we go for other players in the future, and I agree with that, but the £120+ million we're going to have to pay for him can definitely be better spent.

At best right now we are looking at maybe Isak and Guehi, nothing else. And a Konate who leave will leave on a free next summer. At worst we might onely be getting one of them and nothing else.

Toss of a coin lads !  Would love to hear your view.
If we could only sign Isaak or Ghuehi , which one would you go for ?
Personally I'd like to have the pair of them BUT !  I'd go for Ghuehi first .

P.S hopefully the fella just puts "Marco" on his team shirt, biting my tongue here  :lookaround

Tough one mate, I really feel Isak could be the difference for glory this season, prem proven.

Given how poor we are at the back I'd sign Ghuehi. VVD needs a solid partner, he can't do it all on his own.

We are thin both at cb and up front to fight on all fronts. Konate's head is turned and unreliable, Gomes is very inury prone and is is tough for a 18 year old italian kid to be throw into regular PL  football. Up top you've got Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike, Chiesa and Rio for 3 places. Sure Wirtz could be playing there but I think we are thin. Salah will be gone during AFCON and Rio is ver young and can't be counted on to be a regular.

I read somewhere that the club have agreed 130m for Isak. Let’s see if it was true

IMO our defence is being made to look worse than it actually is, if Arne stops trying to shoe-horn Wirtz into midfield and gets back to playing Grav, Dom and Macca in the middle and Ibou sorts his form out and lets face it at 26 you know it's only a temporary blip - sort that stuff out and we'll look a lot better whether we sign Guehi or not.
If the manager who i love btw, actually grows a pair and starts putting Mo on the bench where he can come on for the last half hour/twenty minutes when he's fresh and defenders are tiring we can get a younger player on from the start, one who doesn't need special dispensation from the manager not to run around, if we do that, get 10 outfield players on who all work hard we'll look even more solid. Yes by all means sign some defenders but imo there's a lot we can do to help ourselves in the meantime.

I suppose we will see when Mo goes to AFCON, it may end up a glimpse into the future.

As for Konate I think it will certainly be a loss, we’d be losing a player that became the player he is with us and we’d be losing him in his prime (probably for nothing). If he is going to half heart it this season then his playing time should be limited. Not sure it’s a blip rather than his mind is elsewhere and at this level in the premier league tiny margins make a difference. I think it’s vital we have a good defender to compete with him so we are not forced to play him. In terms of Konate or Guehi I’d rather have Konate but if he is going to play like he’s been then I’d rather Guehi coming to a new team wanting to prove he’s good enough.

Reports now say it's been rejected. Apparntly they're sticking to their £40m valuation plus want a 10% sell on clause.
