Also we don’t know what agreements were made prior between Isak and Newcastle. Maybe they promised something they didn’t deliver.

I've read reports claiming Isak already during last season made his desire known that he wanted to leave Newcastle. The comes a point as a vlub where you have to adapt and understand that if a player wants to move on and do not want to be at the club you have to find the best soloution. Sticking your head in the sand
and ignore the unhappy player is not something that workd anymore. it is not longer the 60s or 70s where the player had to just accept they were staying. Nowadays players have way more power and it is just very common nowadays and clubs will have to adapt and try to get the best deal possible or risk having a toxic locker room or lose players for nothing.

If he wants to go let him, you'll get a handsome fee to rebuild, it's not like his running down his contract.

Clubs need to handle these situations better. Have better discussions with players and if they want to leave then work on a reasonable fee and move on. Wanting over the priced sums will just deter the club who wants the player and eventually make the player rebel.

Liverpool have decided against making a second bid for Alexander Isak after seeing a £110m offer rejected by Newcastle United.

The Premier League champions believe the swiftness and clarity of Newcastle’s response means it would be futile to up their club record offer for the striker.

Liverpool, who had made an inquiry for the 25-year-old last month, stepped up their interest in the Newcastle top scorer as they looked to take their summer spending up towards £400m.

I recall us making the same statement when we were after Virgil.

Could be and also could be that we are waiting for Newcastle to buy someone to replace him first as some part of an agreement. I’d feel more confident if we found a buyer for Darwin as as long as he’s at the club I can’t see them buying Isak.

A few rumours that Darwin is off to Saudi for £60m.

If we've genuinely pulled out of the race for Isak i wouldn't sell Darwin, we've already lost Diogo (RIP) and Lucho and Harvey is almost certain to go as well, Mo turned 33 last month and was already tailoring his game to do less running last season at 32 so if we ship Darwin out on top of all that lot we'd better start praying we don't get any bad injuries up top.
I'd love to see Isak here i really would but i just think the combination of owners who make City's owners look like paupers plus a fanbase up in absolute arm's over the prospect of selling their star man to a top four rival just makes the whole thing extremely complicated.

I read an article talking about the Saudi PIF is helping Liverpool buy Isak by buying Nunez and giving them the funds as the team that wants Nunez is another PIF team. It may be we haven’t pulled out of the deal as we were just waiting for Newcastle to buy a striker to replace Isak which I believe they have now done.

It just needs to be sorted out so primarily, the barcodes can get on with life. They've had a torrid summer, they need to put this behind them, they're a decent club.

Isn't Sesko still undecided between then and Mannure?

We're still short at back also with season around corner.

Benjamin Sesko: Newcastle United submit improved £78m bid for striker

Club return with second offer for RB Leipzig’s Slovenian striker, who is also wanted by Manchester United, after first bid was rejected

Tuesday August 05 2025, 9.00am, The Times

Newcastle United have submitted an improved bid for Benjamin Sesko which could reach about £78million.

After the first offer of €75million (about £65million) plus €5million in add-ons was rejected by RB Leipzig, Newcastle have increased their bid to €80million plus €10million in add-ons.

The Slovenia striker has attracted the interest of several clubs during recent months. At first Arsenal were in talks with Sesko, but the north London side eventually opted for Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

At present both Newcastle and Manchester United are pursuing Sesko and both clubs have been in talks with Leipzig to negotiate a transfer fee. Newcastle’s latest offer is their attempt to get ahead of their Premier League rivals.

Sesko was absent from Leipzig’s pre-season friendly loss to Atalanta on Saturday due to his expected departure. The striker has told some of his team-mates that he is determined to leave.

Newcastle missed out on Hugo Ekitike this summer as the former Eintracht Frankfurt striker decided to join Liverpool instead. Meanwhile, Liverpool are still pursuing Newcastle’s striker Alexander Isak, who was left out of Eddie Howe’s squad for Newcastle’s Asia tour with what the club described as a “minor” thigh issue.

However, Isak trained alone at his former club Real Sociedad, which Howe only found out through the media. Isak has since returned to Newcastle.

Manchester United’s interest in Sesko throws into question Rasmus Hojlund’s future at the club. While the Denmark striker wants to fight for his spot in Ruben Amorim’s starting XI, United are willing to listen to offers.

One possible suitor could be Leipzig, who are looking for at least one new striker in light of Sesko’s expected departure. The Bundesliga side would prefer a loan deal for Hojlund.

Please go to Newcastle... want to see United humiliated again.

Also saw a report that Newcastle are going in for Guehi . I thought he was a prime target for us to reinforce our CB situation but after some initial rumours/speculation all has gone quiet regarding our interest. Think he'd be a great addition for us, really hope we make a move for this fella.

I read somewhere that Palace want 50m for him in his last year. It also said they expected the price to drop as the window closes. Sounds very dodgy to me and strange that no one made an offer for him.

I'm certain the only reason we haven't gone for Guehi is because of Palace's asking price for a player in the final year of his contract. We'd look like suckers if we spent so much on Guehi while losing Trent and potentially Konate on a free. So the club probably wants to get him on a free next season or for half the asking price in Jan.

In any case, we need a CB for RIGHT NOW. If we're not getting Guehi we should get someone else. We'll still need Guehi once he becomes available anyway (or another CB) for next year but we need one for this year as well. Isak would be great but CB should be top priority.
