Still trying to get my head around this.

His family must be devastated. There are few words to sum up this tragedy.

I see Hendo was at the ground today, laying flowers.

Some really touching words from the players and management.
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

Wore No.20 and won us No 20, heard the number will get retired.

Whole footballing world is shocked, times like this even rivalry is put to side.

Last few months he experienced some epic moments in his life.

Words literally fail me. Diogo was one of the good ones. Like a lot of people I really struggle as to why he was taken at just 28 years of age. So young, so cruel and so incredibly popular. Diogo you will always be remembered for your outstanding loyalty, passion and a huge desire to win. Your ability to play the game the way it should be played is something I will always remember about for. The smile on your face holding the cup at Anfield when we won the league in front of your adoring fans and the beautiful pictures of yourself and Route on your wedding day are definitely to be treasured and remembered.

I have never met you but I am a small part of the huge global Liverpool FC family.

Massive love and condolences to all your family and friends.

Diogo RIP

I'm not usually a fan of retiring numbers, i like it when numbers become iconic because of the sheer number of quality players who have worn the shirt but i think because Diogo will never sign for anyone else or announce his retirement and will be a Liverpool player now forevermore i think retiring the number 20 would be fitting in this case.

I’d definitely retire the number 20 shirt. Never a more fitting reason than this. Retiring numbers when an iconic player retires or moves on is utter nonsense, this is a proper reason.

Still no closer to processing this one.

It should be noted that he had a partially collapsed lung after he broke his rib last season and was playing through the pain the rest of the season. Probably why he was less prolific after the injury.

I think we should retire his number as he will be a Liverpool player forever and that doesn’t happen too often.

Edit- Liverpool are reported to honour the final two years of Diogo Jota's contract and will also fund his children's education.

Looks like the club has retired the number 20 shirt, nice touch to honour the rest of his contract too. The club is doing a hell of a lot of things right this summer.

Last night I visited Anfield to pay my respects. The outpouring of support, love and gratitude was overwhelming. Diogo you will never be forgotten.

This has been another tragedy for the club, and the club, the city, the fans, and the players have all pulled together brilliantly to honour the life of Jota. It knocked me sick getting the message from my wife while I was at work that Jota had been killed in a car crash. It's all I've thought about the last 3 days.. his wife, kids, and family must be in pieces. The club retiring the no20, paying Jotas remaining 2 years of his contract to his family, and setting up a trust fund for his 3 children was a heartwarming move by the club.

This senior management crew that we have now of Hogan, Edwards and Hughes are knocking it out of the park atm, youtube is full of opposition fans including United fans praising us to the rafters. A few have mentioned that incident involving the south american  lad who was moving from Cardiff to some French club when his plane went down in the channel, i think the clubs ended up in some unsightly, undignified dispute over who should pay what. People are saying contrast that with Liverpool, no messing around, just doing the right thing no matter the cost. Words like beautiful are even being tossed around. This is opposition fans i'm talking about.
