Sky in Germany report the 22-year-old has successfully completed the first part of his medical. He arrived in the UK on Thursday.

The second part will take place later today after which he is due to sign a five-year contract on a minimum salary of £195,000 per week, which could become £245,000 per week with bonuses.

"This is a huge statement signing from the champions," reported Sky Sports News' Ben Ransom from outside Liverpool's training ground on Friday morning. "We are expecting an announcement later today."

Medical passed, transfer fee agreed, personal terms agreed and parents sorted, he is a Liverpool player  :buttrock

It's just a damn shame John Henry got himself embroiled in stupid idea's which would have ruined the sport because if you put your hand over the negatives column on the balance sheet and just concentrated on the positives fans would be clamouring for a 200 foot Colossus of Rhodes style statue of him to be erected at the mouth of the Mersey.
One foot in Crosby, one foot in New Brighton.

Welcome to the club Florian. I'm slightly more scared than excited about this one due to the money involved lol. However I read that our new sponsor Adidas, a German brand, heavily pushed for this deal as they want to make Wirtz their new golden boy. So although the fee is big there's probably a lot of money to be made from this deal as well. I guess we shouldn't worry about the fee so much and just be happy we've signed one of Europe's biggest talents.

Yes Yakka they have made mistakes and perhaps their planned involvement in the Super League was the biggest. It smacked of greed, arrogance and a complete failure espescially by the Americans to clearly understand how the fans would react. Their other relatively minor indiscretions by comparison pale into insignificance. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus really should’ve known better given that all of their owners represented clubs in their home country. Interestingly, both Barcelona and Real Madrid or fan owned clubs which makes their stance even more surprising. That debacle, however, was four years ago and it is very clear that FSG have learnt from the mistakes. At least John Henry did go on TV and make a public apology for Liverpool‘s involvement unlike any of the other club owners. In fact to this day, Barcelona and Real Madrid are still determined to get a super league off the ground. It would be named the Unity League and would replace the Champions League.

The summer so far is looking incredibly interesting. Hughes and Edwards seem to be doing some remarkable work and obviously it goes without saying that Slot’s involvement has been extremely important.

Welcome to Liverpool Florian. You are certainly joining one of the most successfully run clubs in the world with a huge desire for success.

This guy looks good, his intelligence reminds me of Thiago Alcantara, movement like coutinho . PLayers like this are rare. Make the most out of this period of talent we got. We've got a great chance to dominate for few years. Just need to get this window right.

Hopefully he doesn't have Thiago's injury record as well.

I know it’s early, but….

I was really expecting more. I think a lot of it is down to his position within the team (he’s often too deep) but feels like he’s struggling a little to adapt.

There are flashes of brilliance, but has been an underwhelming start to his LFC career.

Hes obviously under immense pressure which comes along with the record fee, I think if we get Isak it'll at least take that off of him. Thought he played ok today.. but he's struggling with the physical side of the prem, but so did Szoboszlai when he first came. Hes got good feet, makes good runs, and has good game intelligence.

The thing thats frustrating me is the simple balls he's either under playing or hitting too hard at players..  he needs to just relax at bit more.

It might take the best part of a season to get the best out of him and I think we will. Its tough to debut in this league as every team is fit and up for it at the start. Hes high profile so lads will look to unsettle him quickly.

Hes playing too deep imo and needs to be in the box more. I'd like to see him through the middle with Etitike left and Mo right. Go back to a midfield of Mac, Grav and Szob.

He'a been underwhelming for sure, not exactly used to the pace of the league yet, and like said above it might take most of this season for him to get used to the league and for us to find his best position. Having been brought in for so much money isn't helping him mentally either. He's not been terrible so far at all, we can see that he's a very talented player, even against Arsenal I thought he played well, but it might take a while for him to be at his best.

At the very least, Wirtz' arrival may have caused Szobozlai to feel that his position in the starting 11 is being threatened so he's giving it his all right now and has immensely upped his performance.

With Isak coming maybe the price tag will feel a little bit less of a burden now lol. I agree about Sboz, his upped a gear this season, competition takes players out of their comfort zone.

Called out for a poor performance in Germany’s loss to Slovakia. He seems to be low on confidence.

He'll come good at some point, he's got too much quality not to.
