Very easy to simply say we should sell a player if he refuses to sign a new contract. Exactly what do you do when the player refuses to accept any available offers and would prefer to run his contract down and go on a free and get a massive signing on fee from the likes of RM or Barca. Literally everything is stacked in favour of the players. Agents control these matters and it is extremely naive to suggest that the easy answer is to sell a player if he refuses to sign a new contract. So according to you we should have sold Salah for £150m to the Saudis as new contractual terms could not be agreed and we would have missed out on his incredible year that went a very long way towards us winning the the league title. FSG showed some tremendous business acumen by refusing to let him go.

To suggest that the owners had nothing to do with the refusal of a £150m transfer is futile. The never backed Klopp and only by the luck of his greatness as manager and Barca's stupidity did the club afford players like Allison and VVD. What have the owners done to back Klopp EVER? Since Allison and VVD they have done NOTHING. So now all of a sudden, after spending NOTHING ance again for the past year, they decide to FINALLY spend some money and they are the next coming? I do believe FSG have been the best custodians of this club since John Smith and Peter Robinson were in charge....everyone after JS and PR, managed a steady decline in our fortune ending with the Gillette and Hicks debacle....

The last 5 years the club has spent less than Nottingham forest! How many time over the last few years did the owners not back Klopp in the January transfer window when the team was DESPERATE for reinforcements? FSG was doing REALLY poorly until october 2015. Then they lucked out with one appoinment, which they had most likely little to do with. Klopp managed to make great players out of Coutinho, Mane and Salah which cost very little. All thanks to Klopp the club made a profit on Countinho for 130 million which funded the signings of VVD and Allison.

So as a reward for winning the CL 18/19 how did FSG reward Klopp the following season? Minamino was the most expenisve signing that season at a staggering 8 million. After winning the league in 2020 surely FSG must have backed Kopp then? Jota was the most expensive signing at 35 million. That is PEANUTS in todays market. Surely in 2022/22 Klopp was massivly backed. Luis Diaz was the highest at 45 million. Klopp of course molded them and made them better but still NOTHING in today's market. Wow where to start ok lets go from the beginning

Cast your mind back to where the club was when they bought - a complete mess

when they took over the club they stated the club would be "self sustaining" so that it can stand on its own financially so we didnt need to rely on owners debt and billions

It was a rocky start but we won our first trophy in 6 years

Because of the state of the club they need to build from the bottom up - new manager , fresh ideas , got to within one game of winning the league

Then they kept buying players - and employed Klopp - the owners employed him

Gave him money to build a team which he did , won the CL and went within a point of winning the league -

Summer 2019 - the manager was in the belief that his team was good enough to win the league and they went again - and they won the league

So in the season we win the league for the first time in 30 years you are complaining we didnt spend enough How much did we need to spend to win the league ?

After winning the league the club brought in 3 players - Thiago , Kostas and Jota - yet you are not happy because they didnt cost much ? is that not a good thing , getting quality players at good prices

Then you started talking about Diaz and him being the highest ? Did you forget Nunez ?

And would you prefer to spend 45mil on Diaz or 80 mil on Antony

In fact would you prefer to spend 80mil on Kepa or 50 mil on Allison

40mil on Konate or 80mil on Maguire

And then what about when they signed - Mcallister , Gravenburch and Dom ? spent nearly 150mil - would you prefer they spent 70 mil on Mount or 35mil on Mcallister ?

And then onto this season - the owner employed Slot - and it was very clear the team was good enough , and we went and won the league again - yet here you are moaning about transfers

So thats twice now we have won the league and you are complaining about the transfer made before we won the league

Are you just looking to see money being spent ?

The club spend all the money it makes - and that takes us all the way back to the start - being self sufficent and the club standing on its own

Lallana I honestly think that Penguins is basically upset that the incredible nonsense that he has written for so many years has been proved to be utter rubbish. He seems to think that by simply spending money you are guaranteed trophies and success. Manchester United, Arsenal and to a a lesser extent Chelsea are all the proof you need to understand that spending large sums of money on players is definitely not the panacea for success. Manchester United have spent €1250m in net terms over the last 10 years and just what have they achieved. Losing 7-0 to ourselves during that time further proves the point. Spending a record sum of £85m on Nunez who has unfortunately proved to be one of our worst ever signings further exacerbates the point and let’s not forget that was under Klopp’s tenure. Personally, I am not a fan of spending crazy amounts on players especially those that have no Premier league experience. The Wirtz deal worries me. £340k a week appears devise. He will also have to be spectacularly good to justify £115m.

Actually I think he is a game changer and runs like feck. He’s not a soft luxury but a real grafter will incredible technique and vision. Sounds a lot but top players cost and he looks like a player that they will build a team around. Watching him for Germany he was everywhere and they gave him the ball a lot, which means all the players trust him with the ball. The fact he is adamant he wants to play for us despite the bad weather means he also has integrity and those type of players the club has no issues spending on. At 22 it seems a no brainer for the club. My only concern is his graft and tenacity raise the risk of him getting injured and he’s not built like a tank, but neither is Salah.

I think he will be a better Firmino

The price tag and the wages for Wirtz are a worry. I thought at Liverpool wages are earned and not given. VVD and Mo, both being one of best players in the world, had to work very hard to get to those wages but now this kid who has a long way to go IMO to be on the level of these two is getting the same money from the start. I don't like us spending this much on a single player, it's just too risky.
