Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I’d sell Diaz, Elliot, Nunez, Quansah, Tsimikas and  Kelleher. That should add to our war chest nicely. We need cover at CH and up top. We don’t have anyone that can replace Gravenberch but we do have a lot of midfielders. We need a very good central defender that would line up to replace VVD or Konate if he doesn’t extent this summer.

I think we need to play hardball with players that look to wind down their contracts. We start negotiating at two years left but if they haven’t signed by one year then we should sell.

BBC saying we are in advanced talks for £109m deal for Wirtz….
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

1. If Wirtz comes Diaz falls down the pecking order.
2. He's over 28
3. He has only 2 years left on his deal which means he has to renew at 30+
4. He has been a very good contract and will demand a HUGE raise when he will be declining
5. If it's to Barca we won't see him against us basically ever

Agreed with everything except the first point. Do Wirtz and Diaz play in the same position? I think Wirtz would play in place of either Szoboszlai or even as false no.9 like Bobby did. As for Diaz, I wouldn't mind keeping him but I agree that it's the best time to sell him if a big offer comes in for the other reasons you mentioned.

Anywah, Frimpong has officially signed.

Admittedly Diaz would be 30 but I’m fearful that Barcelona are trying to do exactly the same as Real Madrid did with Trent and get him on a pre-negotiated free in two years time. Something needs to be done about this by the football authorities or these free transfer situations are going to become the norm.

Yup something definitely needs to be done. You'll have players just sitting at a club waiting for their contract to be over. Agreement with another will stop them from accepting transfers before expiry.

Have to sell him now if he isn't even interested in signing a new contract.
If the club does it's business early and buys the left back, Frimpong and Wirtz I don't think much at att will happen after that.
Would really like the club to fix it's cb position. VVD is the only one there. Konate is injury prone with 1 year left on his contract. MUST sell if he isn't signing
a new contract. Quansah and Gomes are not 1st team quality and better as backups. I'd hope they sell Konate and buy a new 1st pairing cb.

Diaz scored 17 goals last season and is on 75k per week which is peanuts for a club like ours.

Letting him wind down his contract for 2 years and then go to Barce aged 30 is absolutely fine with me. He’d probably want to double his wages to extend and selling him now when he’s probably our best attacker after Salah makes no sense to me either.

Saying that, money talks and if a Saudi bid of 80 mil came in, and if we had a younger replacement lined up, then I’d consider it.

Of course if clubs come in with 50 million bids you show them the door. But 70-80? Nah, then you pack his bags and sign younger players
