Buying a keeper is a head scratcher unless there is an unannounced deal between Allison and the club. So hard to guess what is happening behind the scenes.

I just don't understand the thought process here. Alisson has 3 years left on his deal and he just refused a move to Saudi which mean he does not care much about money. Only place I can see him willing to go to as long as the club offers cl football is Real and Barca. It just feels highly unlikely he'll go anywhere.
The new keeper is loaned out in his 1st year and THEN WHAT? Alisson will still have 2 years left and the new keeper needs playing time to develop and I'm not sure what sense it makes to let him play 2nd fiddle to Alisson. But then what? Loan him out AGAIN in the 2nd year?

Unless you sell Alisson next summer this move is just madness and makes zero sense.

It's exactly an Aquilani type crock that I would worry about. I know there have been some Italian players in the PL and before who set the place on fire, I just don't get a sense that Chiesa would be one of those.
Skillful player no doubt, easy on the eye. But I'm not sure the league is all that great.
I watched Juve against Hellas Verona last night and wasn't impressed by either side. The quality as a while was pretty poor.

Chiesa adds no value to LFC whatsoever but in that respect he'd be a good replacement for the equally injured Thiago....

Chiesa is primarily a left winger but can operate anywhere across the front 3.  Hard to see where he will fit in tbh as we have Diaz and Gakpo for LW, Jota and Nunez as strikers and Salah plus Elliott for RW. The idea I'd say is as back up to Mo with the hope of being good enough to take over next season so we won't have to spend big.

If we do sign him it should only be a 3 year contract imo to see how his body holds up.

No longer a rumour... First signing under Arne Slot and he debuts in a year from now... :Oo:

This may well mean Ali is off for an inflated fee next year or maybe Kelleher has asked for a move. Otherwise, this makes less than zero sense.

Kelleher has been looking for a move for a while but I doubt we've spent so much money for a back up keeper. Mamardashvili is probably meant to be our number one keeper, not a replacement for Kelleher, and I've no idea where that leaves Alisson, or Kelleher for that matter (probably getting sold).

We needed a few new sigings for sure but we went and signed a player in one of the few positions where we DON'T need strengthening but rather just needed to concentrate on keeping what we currently have, and we're also rumored to be signing a replacement for Thiago in the infirmary room position. What a clusterfùck of a window.

Following on from the discussion about TAA's moody behaviour in the Brentford match thread, the buzz from a pal of mine who's well informed at Anfield is Trent wants out at the end of the season to join his mate Bellingham at Real Madrid. As long as we have the time to plan for it, get a good replacement and he gives 100% this season then I'm ok with it. Both Owen and Macmanaman did the same as I'm sure Trent's aware.

I don't blame him for wanting to go tbh as he has given us enough already and earned that move. Klopp leaving might be a big factor as well in his decision to seek something new. I don't think he will be disliked like the other 2 are.

The replacement is already here in Bradley so I expect Slot will use him a lot and Trent may get used to being subbed. He can't expect to have it all his own way by playing every minute available. Bradley has to get enough experience this season.

£10m is peanuts so not like we can lose out. He did his ACL a few years ago and were concerns he isn't the same player he was before the injury. Think he started to find his feet last season so could prove to be shrewd business provided he keeps away from injury. He was brilliant before his injury.

Wr are quire stacked in the forward positions now with Salah, Jota, Diaz, Gakpo, Nunez and now Chiesa. I wonder if we could see someone leave but with Jota's injury record maybe we need the extra numbers.

If one were to go, surely it would be Nunez. Not sure how much of a look in he gets under Slot tbh. Some tentative links with Arsenal today but I don't see it.

If anyone leaves then it’s Darwin.

He’s had his chance and it hasn’t worked out. If the new gaffer doesn’t rate him then there’s no point keeping him. I’m fairly sure Klopp would have got rid, if he had stayed.

Well, clubs are not very keen to make massive losses on players which is why such players stay on longer than they should...

I dunno mate. He is frustrating as fook but his goal to game ratio isn't that bad tbh. Not doing it in big games is more his issue but I'd like to think Slot would at least give him a season to see if he can improve him. He can't be happy with his gametime but that's up to him to knuckle down and make it count when he does play. If he couldn't be arsed doing that under a new manager then the choice is easy.
