Just read it on the Echo that he wasn't coming. They said we were led to believe he unequivocally wanted a move this season
We will throw out the narrative that the players darn pesky agent used us to get him a better deal off Sociedad.  It's just comical how much this happens to us tbh. They are also saying we won't be signing a DM now.

Seem to be cursed over the last few seasons when it comes to bringing in a no 6.
First Tchouameni, then Caicedo and Lavia (looking like bullets dodged to be fair but who knows) and now Zubimendi. Wouldn't be surprised if Slot gives Gravenberch a run there now if we've shelved plans to target someone else.

Really hope we don’t go back to the dark days of panic buying at the last minute. It’s how we ended up with Mario ‘why try harder?’ Balotelli.

Reports in Spain claim Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has agreed to join Manchester City. However, sources in the UK are playing down any talk of a deal being done between the two clubs.

The forward has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among his suitors. However, the European giants may not be the only side interested in the winger.

Spanish news outlet El Chiringuito TV claim City have opened talks with Diaz over a potential deal and the Colombia international has already agreed to sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Express is usually full of *****, but I wouldn’t stop a big money move for Diaz.

He’s very one dimensional and we would easily replace him

Diaz to City is probably the best one I heard this summer!!

That Williams lad would be a top replacement if we could get that over the line.

The Diaz to City stories sound like something his agent has conjured up to try and put pressure on Barca to get a move on.

He wants to go to Spain and although we probably don't want him to go, if someone pays what we want we may just deal.

I don't see anyone from Spain paying what we want. If somehow it does happen, think we'll really push for Gordon.

Seem to be a lot of speculation surrounding the Georgian goalkeeper. Talk of signing him and then loaning him out for up to 2 years. Forward planning they are calling it

What kind of message is that sending to Kelleher and Jaros.

It tells them to start  retraining as a number 6!

  Kelleher may leave now then.

In other news Bobby Clark has left. 10 MIL to Salzburg. A good move for the lad imo and best of luck to him.

Also seen that we are preparing a final take it or leave it offer to Zubimendi. We are prepared to pay the release clause and a little bit more to get it done. It was on Liverpool.com with the source being a Spanish newspaper.

To be honest I only really want players who'd jump at the chance to play for us. Zubimendi for what ever reason clearly wasn't fully sold so think I'd leave it at that. Think been mentioned his family didn't want to leave Spain so fair play to the lad.

What I read is he wanted to come for football reasons but they reminded him that he couldn’t hike in the mountains as he liked to do and he wouldn’t eat the same food and the weather is awful   :glare: . To be honest that is what you would tell a naive child, his football career is finite and he will have to move eventually. When he is done with football he can happily go back. We are prepared pay him more money than his renewed contract (we offered 150k per week)  so it’s not the smartest move for them.

Last season we tried to sign 2 lads that didn't want to come to Liverpool and we kept throwing money at the problem but they went to Chelsea. This season it's this Spanish lad who likewise has made it clear he doesn't want to come. Move on Liverpool!

Apparently his contract talks with Sociedad aren't going well so we might steal a march yet. He will improve the team so he's worth it.

That whole situation is a bit bizarre tbh. It's very unusual for a club like that to block a move like this for one of their players or at least throw multiple obstacles in his way. I don't think it's as clear cut as media making out.  I don't think we even approached Sociedad and tried to force it all through the player. Reports now are saying that we are prepared to pay the release clause or even go above it so maybe our offer was low and sociedad weren't having any of it.

Bottom line here is all these failures are down to the club and how they go about their business. We don't want to let our own players go till we get more than they are worth and it's the opposite when signing players. Look at the failed move to aquire the French club, the situation for the club is what brought them in the first place. A club on the verge of bankruptcy that they thought they could get for nothing. They are bargain basement everything!!

Was reading yesterday an interview with Lavia and he said he was always going to Chelsea. In his head he was already playing for them. It was well known Caiceido only had eyes for them as well.

Our PR is second to none tbh. It's easy to go chasing players destined for elsewhere or throw bids at someone you know you won't get. It looks good to the fans that we are being pro active but imo very little intention is ever there.
