Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Postby red till i die!! » Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:53 pm

He has turned down a few clubs and reportedly said he is very happy where he is so I hope it's not one of those chase a player you know your not getting.

He would be a great signing though.

Very strong rumours mate. Word is it just needs Zubimendi to say yes to the move and the deal is done and dusted.
Personally think if we get him, he'll be a great addition  :buttrock

Apparently this lad has already turned down a number of top clubs including Bayern so not so sure he'll jump to join us. Fingers crossed.

Think he always had doubts and has already turned down a few offers already. He seems quite happy where he is and to be fair things are going nice for him. Just won the Euros on top of a great season. He's back with his team and training away so not looking like it's happening anytime soon.

  Damn .
I guess that if Slott wants to use the much heralded "double pivot" we're looking at McAllister and Endo ?
Not a bad pairing   :)

Maybe now we can focus on reinforcing our Centre Backs  :nod

I think Slot feels midfield is an issue and wants a 6 which I agree with. We have absolutely no pace in there at all and it was evident last year when we had no choice but to field Endo, Mac and Elliot. Mac and Elliot have the vision we want to quickly release runners from deep but they offer little protection to the back 4.

Ch is also an issue for me and think we are sleep walking until Virgil decides to leave. I would think Gomez is now unhappy being used as a pawn in other sales. Bit disrespectful to Joe there if I'm honest. Still massive worries over Konates fitness as well and despite doing well in preseason Sepp looks set to leave.

I think if we get a good 6 in it will shore up the exposure to the defence and we could get away with it for another year. That Zubi fella smashes up attacks and wins a lot of possession which we badly need. Having that player makes all the difference to how we want to play.

Carvalho sold? tbh I would have kept him and sold Jones for whatever any club was willing to pay.

Probably has to do with the homegrown quota. It's is very important when it comes to registrations...

Brentford agree to sign Liverpool attacker Fábio Carvalho in £27.5m deal
Liverpool take sell-on clause for attacking midfielder, 21

Sat 10 Aug 2024 18.05 BST

The Portuguese player, previously with Fulham, will head back to west London once the formalities, including a medical, are complete. Personal terms have been agreed. He was contracted to Liverpool until 2027, having joined them from Fulham in the summer of 2022 for an initial deal worth £5m.

Fulham have a sell-on clause of 20% for a player who was a leading light in their 2021-22 Championship promotion campaign before heading to Merseyside. After a bright start, including a couple of goals in his first month as a first-team player, he found opportunities harder to come by.

Last season featured loan spells at RB Leipzig and then Hull, where he reasserted the talent he had shown previously with nine goals for the Tigers in the Championship. If Jürgen Klopp was unable to find a role for him, it appears Arne Slot, despite some promising appearances in pre-season, including goals from the left wing against Arsenal and Manchester United, also considers him surplus to requirements.

Southampton had a recent bid turned down before Brentford made an offer that included a 17.5% sell-on clause for a player who returns to London, where he first moved as an 11-year-old. Carvalho has represented England at junior level before opting to play for Portugal.

Brentford moved for him after Igor Thiago, their previous summer forward signing, was ruled out until “late 2024” by a knee injury. Ivan Toney’s future, including links with Manchester United and Arsenal, remains uncertain as Thomas Frank seeks to strengthen his squad. Last season’s 16th place was rather too close for comfort.

Liverpool meanwhile are yet to make a senior signing as Slot succeeds Klopp. It is expected the funds from selling Carvalho will go towards a transfer kitty targeted towards a deal for the Euro 2024-winning midfielder Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
