Wonder how that guy Calafiori will do with Arsenal, CB with Saliba.

KDB and Ederson could be off to Saudi.

Looked at his highlights reel and he’s heavily left footed like Salah, actually plays similar also.

Japanese Diaz for me. Wouldn't be overly excited about him tbh.

I really haven’t followed him or heard of him but watching him he is a left footed player that seems to play on the right side like Salah. Runs and dribbles the same also. At his age he looks better than what Salah was at the same age. The one thing you can always say about the Japanese is a lack of ego and a great team spirit.

To be fair, the same recruitment team got us Mane, Salah, Allison, Firmino, Robertson and to a certain extent VVD and none of them were world class players when they came. Klopp stitched that team together and made them world class by giving them a system they would excel in.

Don't know how Klopp dealt with transfer or pushing for new arrivals. But wondering if Arne will be more "soft" and content with FSG? Hope his not a yes man.

Anyhow early days, hopefully we will snap players soon.

He may start that way but if he does well and the supporters are right behind him then it will give him the power to make demands, similar to Klopp to be fair as Klopp didn’t start to insist on final say until he renewed his contract.

In any case the fans need to be 100% behind him if this is going to work. If we have wobbles in the beginning and he loses the supporters then it won’t last long. Luckily we are Liverpool and we have loyal and football educated supporters.

One thing I will say, Arsenal really seem to have their sh1t together when it comes to new signings. They know who they want and need, and they get them. Our club is focused on sustainability, which isn't a bad thing, but the continuing inertia means we're going backwards compared to the others.

I was thinking the same about Arsenal, they certainly seem to have money and their goal seems to be winning the title now rather than CL football. I do remember Arsenal not spending while building the Emirates and their fans being told that as they pay off the build and the extra revenue comes they will have money to compete, it seems to have happened now.

I'd find it concerning if we didnt sign anyone, we were clearly short last year, not sure how we are supposed to bridge the gap without reinforcing the squad.

Read an interview from slot yesterday saying that there will be signings soon BUT!! They have to meet the clubs high standards!! The first aim he said was to work with the players he has but that's difficult because so many still missing. He then said there is an important line at the club that young players come through so it's a good chance to work with them. Then he said he believes we are good enough to compete without making any transfers but would be surprised if something didn't happen.

Bit of a mixed bag that but I gather nothing significant will happen unless someone goes.

Just laughable. ZERO chance this team will challenge for the title. Salah, Van Dijk a year older, tougher and more european matches and the squad was too thin last season...

I view the EPL like Formula 1. Mercedes had their era, now it's Red Bull but MacLaren are now competing to come through. Ferrari are always there about.

But it's budget guys. Mercedes spent a fantastic amount getting to the top and staying there and no other team could or tried to compete. Mercedes lost design team members and reduced their budget as the new car design phase started, whereas Red Bull invested and took over. Ferrari is like Man United, full budget but they waste it. MacLaren are spending in a focused manner and are now challenging as RB loose momemntum.

Man City are like Mercedes in their glory days but will soon drop off.
ManU and Ferrari will never dominate again, their internal politics are too great.
Liverpool are MacLaren, desperate to compete, a tight run ship on a smaller budget unable to compete with Citeh/Red Bull.
Arsenal are Aston Martin, sexy history but struggling to compete.

MacLaren won't win until RB loose interest and cut their budget. Neither will Liverpool so don't get stressed about it.

Thanks for the link mate, much appreciated.
As others have mentioned i hope Arnie has enough about him to fight his own corner and not be a yes man. Look at how our owners over-rid Brendan's wishes when they signed Ballotelli et al, Brendan wasnt stupid, in fact he said publicly on the telly after Suarez left that he wanted to replace like for like, he wanted to replace Luis with another big time player he didnt want a scattergun transfer approach but what happened, out went Luis and in came 9 bargain-basement signings.

Jeez guys you've got me wondering whether Slot is a post Klopp 'soft landing' appointment as we go into hibernation for a 3-4 year cycle.
