I wouldn’t sell him without having a replacement lined up no matter how big the fee. I’d actually do what Paul Mersin said, forget Mbappe, that ain’t going to happen but if the Saudi’s put the same £215m offer on the table in January I’d go straight to Arsenal and offer them £150m for Bukayo Saka.
We’d be swapping a 31 year old for someone who turned 22 today and trousering £65m along the way.

I don't think ANY star in ANY top 6 club will be available to a rival club. Saka would cost 250 million+ if Arsenal were to sell him to a rival club....
Smart move would be to look outside the league or not a rival club.

Perfect solution imo. We have had a good start and if our confidence grows we will certainly be top 4 and possibly contenders. Mo is a massive part of that.

On another note Hendo has had a bit to say for himself about his move. Said he didn't feel like he was wanted and was told by Klopp his minutes would be reduced. He's looking for a testimonial now because he said he wants to say a proper goodbye to the fans. He's also saying the reported details of the finances involved are wide of the mark. He said its good money but not what was reported.

Surely he didn't think he could continue to play at this level every week did he. His game had fallen off a cliff in the last few seasons and was a major weakness last year. I think lads like him are deluded and their egos don't let them acknowledge that their careers are wrapping up.

Injury and age caught up with Hendo. Was clear last season he was done at this level.

Great servant to the club. But he'd struggle to break into our starting 11 now.

Saka would be awesome and flourish under Klopp but I can't see Arsenal selling their top asset to one of their rivals.
Mbappe is far fetched but man I'd love it of we could replace him with Salah.

Saka, Mbappe…..that’s the profile of player we should be looking at.
When we got the Coutinho money we went out and bought the best keeper and CB on the market. We didn’t go for potential we went for the real deal and it turned us as a team into the real deal.

I think there is a bit of revisonium about van Djik and Alisson being world class when we got them. I can't recall us buying established stars from big CL clubs. We generally buy top talents and turn them into world class players.

Granted we had to beat off competition from other CL clubs when we got van Djik, but he was 26 when he joined from Southampton and before that he'd played for Celtic and Groningen. And he'd only played 16 times for the Netherlands and a handful of games in the Champions League with Celtic. No one was thinking we should spend a world record fee for a defender.

Alisson was 25 and had played all his career in Brazil before he joined Roma where he only spent two seasons, and one just playing Europa League games and not a minute in the league. In the same window Real Madrid bought Courtois instead. I think a lot of people hadn't even heard of him.

At the time we got fleeced on the price for both of them because Southampton knew we were going to get silly money for Coutinho, and Roma had seen us already receive it. Exact same thing will happen with Mo. It will be even worse if we bank the money now and plan to spend it in Jan or next summer.

Arsenal are just behind the top two net spenders over the last five years. Believe it or not they are not that far behind Chelsea. They are now looking like a serious unit and I certainly can’t see them selling their best asset.

If Saudi are that desperate to get Salah. Tell them the price is £250m and no add ons, with the proviso that they loan Mo back to us until the end of the season and pay his wages of £1.5m a week !!

At some point we will have to move on and bring in a younger player, it’s the nature of football. Getting 200m is more than he will give us this year, it’s a great opportunity for the club. We could be so much stronger if we buy another Van Dyke. Just like selling Coutinho made us stronger, selling Mo will make us stronger.

I think it won’t happen now but they will probably be back in Jan. They are playing in the Club World Cup so my guess is they wanted to strengthen for that.

They'll be back. But it's Mo decision at the end of the day. Hopefully he wants another few years at the top before heading to the mega millions of the Saudi league.

Mo looks after himself, no reason why he won't play on for another 4 or 5 years.

for certain the Sudi's will return to this, maybe next summer, but that gives us all season to source some replacements and not sit on our ***** and act all surprised when he leaves. We good at acting like we never saw it coming, well, this is your warning!

Ideally we will have a secret pre agreement so we can buy someone before they know we have cash to spend. I think spend the money on defenders because that is our next time bomb, I think we have good young attackers. Remembering that Salah will never be that 27 year old player he was, he will decline so we shouldn’t prioritize replacing with what he gives because he won’t give that anymore.

I love all that he did for the club and he will always have a place in the legends wall but we shouldn’t get sentimental. If a player gets older and has nowhere to go maybe, but he would have earned 5-10 times what he is making, if you loved him then that is the best thing for him, we would actually be holding him back. The money the club would get is the motivator, that money would improve us significantly and we should have sold him. Not because I have no loyalty to the player but because I have a loyalty to the team and we need to see the team compete in a money oriented league. I really think that selling him would have been the strong move, not the weak move. Itihad is playing in the club World Cup and they wanted to bolster their team to make the final, my feeling is they would have paid whatever we asked, in January and next year they may not be so motivated.

We had a world class goalie, defense and attack when we won the league, our midfield was the weakest link but they ran a lot to make up for it. We now have a WC goalie, potentially a WC midfield and attack but our defense is not WC anymore and in decline and we need to buy a top quality defender to keep up.

My opinion anyway.
