Anyone heard of this Endo chap and know much about him? May well be a good player but initial thought is it screams 'we are running out of options and just need to get someone in for next season'.

Had the usual look on youtube, never a good barometer but to be fair he looks mobile, high energy, tenacious and quick to close down the oppo so can certainly see why look a fit for our midfield, even if it is a stop gap type signing.

He's here to fill in for Hendo/Milner as a experienced player. He's keen to come, so we need to get behind this guy. Let Chelsea steal the mercenaries, I'd rather we get someone in who'll fight for the shirt every game.

Sounds like we've had talks with Amarabat to. He did look very good at the world cup.

How come Caicedo didn't feel unwanted by Chelsea when they wouldn't pay more than £80m for him before we offered £110m? They don't care about "being wanted" mate,  Chelsea offered more lucrative packages and that's that. I'm sure it was also made clear to Lavia by his representatives that he might not be a starter anytime soon (I disagree with you that both Caicedo and Lavia will be starters) and even that Chelsea might face punishment for this blatant breach of ffp, like Juventus did last season. None of that matters as long as they're getting more money.

And to be honest, we can't really know if we'll find someone better than Lavia for a quarter of the price. The kid has played some 20 odd games in a team that got relegated. He might end up being a great player but at this point there's just no way of knowing and he definitely doesn't warrant the price Chelsea paid.

I don't know Mate how he felt when the bids they lodged got refused but I do know he wasn't long knocking us back when we put the bid in. That story broke late Thursday night and by 10 or 11 am it was being reported he wanted Chelsea. It could also be that he's a stand up guy and wanted to honor the agreement he made with them. I believe if Southampton had of accepted a bid for lavia off a different club while we were negotiating then he would have done the same and held out for us.

No one knows the finer details outside the group involved but to suggest Lavia is gone to sit on a bench when he was already a regular at his club and would have walked into our team just for a few quid doesn't add up. I don't believe every player is out for the money and especially not someone looking to make a name for himself.  He was happy with the terms Liverpool offered before he got dicked around by us.

I don't think he was worth the money and tbh very few players are but someone at the club decided he was the player we wanted. They must have liked what they seen in order to make him the number one target and spend so much time on it. He was worth 45 but not the extra 5  I don't think Chelsea bought him just to get one up on us either but we will have to wait and see what kind of gametime he gets. We spent a lot on Nunez mate and imo hes not even worth half that.

Chelsea don't care about breaking or should I say potentially breaking the rules as they will get their house in order by the time any case gets heard and just pay a fine if there is one to pay.. The money they are investing is pre agreed as a condition of the sale and they have also sold a lot of players. Maybe they will comply in the end who knows. Its based on a few year period I think.

FFP is just like VAR Mate. Brought in to make you think its going to help and improve the game. Plenty will say it has but most who are capable of forming their own opinion will tell you it hasn't. It's a con job!!

Think Klopps preference was to get someone who already has league XP seeing as we lost a lot this year. I would have been delighted with Caiceido as he really fits the bill for what we need. Would have been happy with Lavia as well mate tbh. It might be one season under his belt but better than someone from a lower league in another country. We are relying on so much already less experienced than him.These are the targets the club is going for so nowt we can do about that except hope we get the right one.

Also reading the Doucoure rumours for 60M. Don't know much about him to be honest.
I've seen the Japanese fella once or twice but the Bundesliga is dull at the best of times, so I don't watch all of a game most of the time and can't really comment.

Jurgen and Jorg would have seen more Bundesliga games than all of us combined so if they think Endo can contribute let's get it done quickly. I'm guessing he profiles well from a data perspective too and he is captain of both Stuttgart and Japan so he should bring leadership qualities. If we can get a couple of good years out of him for £15m and a modest wage it could turn out to be a smart deal. I'm sure we'll be on the lookout for a long term answer at DM but it might not be this window now.

Never heard of the Japanese lad but from what I'm reading he could be an option. Can play CH as well and is left footed.  His CV is less than impressive though but who knows.

Looks a decent player as good if not better than anyone we've got for the DM role, defensive stats are impressive.

For less than £20 million until we get someone better he seems like a quick albeit temporary fix to our defence

Endo could be the experienced "Milner" type  for us but we definitely need another lad who's younger.

My guess is he will get a 4 year deal with the option of another so if that happens does it still qualify as a stop gap ?

Not knocking the lad at all as have never seen him play but just feels like it's a signing that Sheffield United or Fulham would make. He's already a success for most because he cost little and will get paid similar and that's before he's even kicked a ball. He's not played at any sort of a decent level and he's 31 after Christmas.

Anyway see how he gets on but it feels like we think we won the lotto.

Last summer Fulham spent £20m on 27 year old Joao Palhinha who'd never played outside of Portugal. Went on to be one of the best DMs in the league last season and we've been linked with a £50-70m move. Not saying it will be the same situation, but there are smart left field moves that can be made in the market in the absence of getting long term solutions. It's the sort of tactical (opposed to strategic) transfer we've not really made in recent years and on occasion it has cost us.

Clearly he's not going to be a world beater and we'll still be on the market for a long term target. But he's a specialist DM. An experienced DM. A club and national captain. He'll instantly give our team balance and allow others to play in their preferred position rather than be shoehorned to cover at DM. Long term he could provide useful cover.
