Not only that, everyone knows we're desperate now. An expensive panic buy is coming.

53M Lavia to Chelsea

Apparently he felt as being 2nd choice.

The numpty who is in charge of doing transfers needs the sack.

"Second choice" that's *****, he won't even play at Chelsea, they just offered him more money let's be honest.

No idea if we're after him and can't recall seeing him play but 100 odd games for Lens in Ligue 1, a season in the PL where he was Palace's player of the year, 23 years old. This is the sort of profile of player we've had success with in recent years. Sort of out of the blue signing I could see us making. Would be very Jota like.

£53m rising to £58m is a lot for Lavia. My original reaction to the Lavia links back in June was he is the wrong profile. He's only 10 months older than Bajcetic and has only made 21 more senior appearances. I thought we'd go for someone further along in his development but if Klopp really wanted him then OK. But the higher the price gets the more it doesn't seem to make sense to me when we have Bajcetic on our books. Klopp must have seen something special in him. Will be interesting to see how things turn out for him. Chelsea are not in Europe so I don't see how he gets much game time with Enzo and Caicedo ahead of him. A loan to Brighton next season to replace Caicedo probably makes the most sense.

Think it's somewhat disingenuous to say he just went there for the money and will just sit on the bench. He was committed to us and would have ran up the road to sign only for WE ended up f*cking him around. Once we did that it wouldn't be hard to beat the terms we offered. We wouldn't pay the release clause because we felt it wasn't worth it so do you really think we were paying a fortune to him in wages.  More than likely it was 40k until you prove yourself.

This transfer especially has made us a laughing stock and has imo annoyed Klopp. Whatever comes in now is way down the list of what he would have wanted.

Fwiw, I don't think he will sit on the bench watching Caiceido and will more than likely be lining up beside him and Fernandez is what has the potential to be the best mid in the league for years to come. It will cover for a lot of their defensive weaknesses as well.

His loss anyway as I'm sure we will sign better for a quarter of that price won't we.

Spot on. We can miss out on players, it can happen but the way it's all being played out just feels amateurish. I found it strange Klopp even mentioning an offer for Caicedo being accepted in his last press conference. Was just better of batting any questions about it away. Got so used to us being slick in the way we operate over the last few years, now just feels we have complete homer's running the show. Isn't good enough for a club of our size and surely there needs to be a review into what has gone in this window.

Imo he was always going in ahead of Bajectic mate as he is a better player. As you said if we bought someone more experienced it would give room for him to grow but the age profile of what we are looking for rivals him. Yes there isn't much stats on Lavia but still only a quarter of that available on Bajectic. Even if we got him on our 1st bid he was not playing back up to Bajectic.

We have got to stop this thinking every player we have on the books is world class. We can't just lose an important player and think ah its grand shuh we have X. The mentality here now just seems to be replace a body with another one without thinking of the overall consequences to the team.

Liverpool may have dodged a bullet as Dortmund players 'happy' Jude Bellingham has left

Liverpool failed in their attempts to sign Jude Bellingham as the England star joined Real Madrid instead this summer.

Liverpool may have dodged a bullet as reports claim Borussia Dortmund players are happy that the midfielder has left the club. The Reds were keen on signing the England star but pulled out of the running due to the expense of a potential deal.

Bellingham became an instant star at Dortmund after joining from Birmingham in the summer of 2020. He made 132 appearances in all competitions for the German side despite not turning 20 until after he left the club.

He has grown a reputation as one of the best young midfielders in Europe. Bellingham featured for England at Euro 2020 and played a key role at the World Cup in Qatar late last year.

Liverpool were thought to be one of the frontrunners to sign Bellingham this summer. However, the Merseyside club felt his arrival would not have left enough funds to strengthen other areas in their squad.

He has since joined Real Madrid for an initial fee of £88.5m, which could rise to around £113m with add-ons. But Liverpool may well have dodged a bullet following fresh reports from Germany.

Bild claims that Dortmund players were growing tired of Bellingham's behaviour at the club. It is reported that his old team-mates are glad to see the back of him.

The report says Bellingham craved being the centre of attention. It is said that the midfielder felt he was overshadowed by Erling Haaland during the 2021/22 campaign so he would wait around after games to applaud supporters on his own rather than with the rest of his team-mates in an attempt to gain further recognition.

Bellingham captained Dortmund on a number of occasions last season as he quickly became a senior figure. But Bild claims fellow players have said that he did not show much leadership.

It is also reported that Bellingham was often moody and team-mates did not like the way he spoke to them. It is said to have created a bad atmosphere among the squad.

Bild names one occasion where Bellingham is claimed to have insulted Nico Schulz when Dortmund crashed out of the Europa League against Rangers two seasons ago. According to lip readers, Bellingham said to Schulz: "You can't play a f*****g pass, you're f*****g s**t! Every damn time!"

It is alleged that this was a common occurrence and that Bellingham also insulted players during his final season at the club. Liverpool may feel lucky that they decided against pursuing Bellingham after hearing these latest reports.

Jurgen Klopp would not want a disruptive player coming into his squad as he attempts to rebuild his midfield. The Reds have so far spent money on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and will look to sign at least one more midfielder before the end of the summer window.

Ceicedo I was gutted because I knew he'd slot right in. Experienced and solid as a brick. Lavia on the other hand I was unsure, potentially "could" become good but who knows.
For us Lavia would've straight away slotted into main xi and my concern would've been that we are relying on a 19 year old inexperienced lad to hold our midfield.
Ceicedo on the other hand was a no brainer, the T*ss*r would've been perfect for us.

His loss anyway as I'm sure we will sign better for a quarter of that price won't we.

How come Caicedo didn't feel unwanted by Chelsea when they wouldn't pay more than £80m for him before we offered £110m? They don't care about "being wanted" mate,  Chelsea offered more lucrative packages and that's that. I'm sure it was also made clear to Lavia by his representatives that he might not be a starter anytime soon (I disagree with you that both Caicedo and Lavia will be starters) and even that Chelsea might face punishment for this blatant breach of ffp, like Juventus did last season. None of that matters as long as they're getting more money.

And to be honest, we can't really know if we'll find someone better than Lavia for a quarter of the price. The kid has played some 20 odd games in a team that got relegated. He might end up being a great player but at this point there's just no way of knowing and he definitely doesn't warrant the price Chelsea paid.

We've had a £18m bid accepted for Japanese and Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo. He's due for his medical tomorrow. I've no idea who he is if I'm being totally honest. He's 30 years old, got tons of experience and has some very impressive defensive stats over the last 3 years in the Bundesliga.
