It's always the same isn't it, chasing players we won't get right up till the end and don't forget the auld carrot on the stick which is a Brazillian in January :laugh:

Weeks faffing about with lavia lodging lowball bids with more than a week for each one. Then we approach a club for another just as their window is about to close but will hold out for 6 months rather than stump up to get him now.

Rebuild my hole, more like the same old shyte. Dewsbury Hall anyone!! :laugh:

Great start to the window, but that's where it ends. The fact that we have a net spend of £34m and can't "afford" the £50m asking price for a target is just embarrassing. We can't just get bargain after bargain every year.. sometimes you've gotta pay a little bit over the odds to get a player in.

All this time wasting has left us with no defensive midfielder with only one week to go before the season starts.

Wouldn't suprise me if we was never even in for Lavia and FSG were using their usually tactics of us being distracted while spending no money on the team, and then using the excuse "we ran out of time" to get a CDM in before the window closes.

It's been rumored for a while that Southampton want £50m. But a couple of days ago Duncan Castles said "Southampton confident of achieving fee in excess of £60million". Now Castles might be a Man Utd and Mourinho loving gimp, but he wouldn't report that unless he had been told it by a decent source. I think we'll put a best and final foot forward with a third bid and then it's up to Lavia to push it. It's not necessarily about not having the money, but probably more that we don't think he's worth that sort of money. Southampton have a new Director of Football so I'm not surprised they are negotiating tough with both Lavia and Ward-Prowse. But they are starting the season with players that don't want to be there which isn't exactly ideal for them.

We surely can't go into this new season with this lack of squad depth, especially after last year's failings.

We really don't deserve Klopp at this stage. He loves the fans, the atmosphere, the thrill of it all... but he must hate the transfer windows!

Obviously we don’t know the ins and outs of what’s going on. When they needed to they spent big on VVD, Allison, Nunez and they moved quickly on all those. Surely there is something else going on rather than saving 5million.

Here comes the FSG spokesperson again with half truths and misinformation.
HOW did they get money for Allison and VVD??? getting over 200 million for Coutinho and Suarez might have had something to do with it.
Otherwise they'd NEVER stumped up the cash for those players.
But why expect anything else from you...
The team is F'ed for next next with little money spent and no squad depth while our rivals have got even stronger and FSG has always spend next to nothing...

What I don't get is why we have so little target alternatives. Why couldn't we go for this West Ham target from Ajax, Alvarez, or maybe Florentino from Benfica. Just a couple off the top of my head, surely there are others out there. Man, our scouting and overall transfer dealings have gone down hill since Edwards left.
