Ajax vs Liverpool KO 20:00

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby redshade » Wed Oct 26, 2022 6:29 pm

A point tonight will seal progression to the next stage.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool have Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate available again for their Champions League match at Ajax, but Thiago Alcantara remains absent.

Striker Nunez and defender Konate have returned to training after respective hamstring and muscle injuries.

Thiago is still recovering from the ear infection that ruled him out of the 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Liverpool will progress from Group A to the last-16 stage if they avoid defeat in Amsterdam.

Liverpool team news
Team to play Ajax: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Nunez.

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Jones, Tsimikas, Ramsay, Carvalho, Bajcetic, Phillips.

Better starting XI than against forest - glad to see Nunez and TAA in there.

We've been really poor, but managed to slow the game to frustrate Ajax. Should've been 2-0 but miraculously we are 1-0 at HT goal by Salah.

Nunez missed a open goal so I'm sure that'll be played non stop by our jealous rivals.

We're 3 up but I'd go for more. If we manage to get 2 or 3 more and Napoli stay at just the 2 they have now against Rangers, we can try to beat Napoli in the last game and try to finish top.

Good result. And a new formation, too.

Let's hope we can turn a corner and finally put this bad patch of form behind us.

Very quiet here !! Excellent result but it could have been very different. Ajax’s miss in the first few minutes demonstrated just how fragile we have become. Great that we scored 3 cracking goals and kept a clean sheet. That would not have been the score line against almost any Premiership team. No doubt Leeds will have taken note. I only hope the owners did !!

Good result after a very shaky start, Elliot and Nunez scored sublime goals.

Job done qualified for the next phase, first half was lacklustre but thankfully we came into motion in the second half. Nunez title "agent of chaos" suits him  :D  missed a sitter and then scored a difficult goal.
