Even though Villa lost 3-2 Pepe Reina had a really good game today, he even saved a pen (although Son got to the rebound first and put it in). Good to see him still playing, he joined us right after Istanbul which is a good few years ago now. The commentator said he won the premier league golden gloves award 4 times when he was with us (it’s easy to forget just how good he was).

CAS will take the intentions of the parties into consideration in the appeal but will also be sympathetic to the need to fast track the case for clear and obvious reasons. City will suffer further reputation damage from a clumsy appeal which will turn sponsors away from them. Long term damage limitation suggests it's better to take the hit now....

And don;t forget media pressure Yakka!!

Exclusive: Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers in the running for Manchester City job if Pep Guardiola quits

Out of comradeship for their fellow Manc brethren, Manure have also said they won't play CL footie for the next two seasons.

I really hope we get him, would be the best signing money-quality wise IMO. He's also just getting into his prime years, and is pretty versatile and can play on all three attacking positions.

Why would anyone pay a supposed 100m for this Sanko lad if you can get Werner for 48m? Seems a bargain.

These rumours about Ben White seem to be building.

We will more than likely lose Lovren this summer so it makes sense to recruit a replacement. Matip is only 28 so I can see him getting an extension and Gomez despite a dodgy moment or two early on has gotten his form back and looks solid again alongside Virgil.

It isn't a priority position due to the options we have so don't mind seeing us bringing in a young lad for cover.

Not sure I'd use the term "lose" there...

REDS SET SIGHTS ON RUIZ

Liverpool have identified Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz as their primary summer transfer target, according to the Daily Express.

Ruiz is reluctant to commit his future to the Serie A club, and Liverpool hope to capitalise by swooping for the 23-year-old.

The Reds are expected to face competition for Ruiz’s signature though, with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich interested.

REDS EYE ‘NEW MATIP’

Liverpool are planning a move for the Schalke centre-back Malick Thiaw, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Reds have scouted the 6ft 3in 18-year-old - dubbed "the new Joel Matip" - for some time and could exploit a £17m release clause in his contract.

LIVERPOOL, ARSENAL MONITORING NDICKA

Liverpool and Arsenal have been monitoring the Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka this season.

They had been among the clubs tracking the France Under-21 international before the suspension of football across Europe due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Spanish sides Valencia and Sevilla and the two Milan clubs have also been keen on Ndicka, who is one of a limited number of promising left-footed centre-backs.
