67M would secure the services of Coutinho, apparently. Still don't think I'd have him back

I don't think that will ever happen at any price. His age, he does not work hard enough and he seems to not be the same player any more. Best thing we did was sell him as since he left we have done nothing but improve. History will probably look back at the moment when we sold him as pivotal so he will be remembered  :grinning:

Personally I think we have stepped up a level from Coutinho and I wouldn’t entertain the idea of having somebody back that was happy to leave. Let’s face it allegedly faking a back injury and seemingly refusing to play is not a great way to leave a club that rescued you from the doldrums and helped to dramatically improve your game. Thanks for the £142m Phil - Adios !!!

I don't think Coutinho gets in the team anymore. And at that price you want to be paying for a player that should be getting in the starting 11. I'd rather us spend it on either Havertz, Sancho or Mbappe.

Coutinho left us for better things and it didn't work out. We are now the best team in the world so why should we bail him out? This is a perfect lesson for footballers who think the grass is greener elsewhere.

Coutinho ?

Since he left we have become European Champions, World Champions and are about to be crowned English Premier League Champions !

A simple question.

Have we missed him  ?

:no   :no   :no

Jog on Coutinho, we don't need you.

He wouldn't fit into this team. Klopp would have to make changes to our approach to accommodate him so it's a big fat no from me. He's a Barcelona reject and Bayern don't seem particularly keen to keep him and we are better than both of those sides now.

Personally I think he would have no bother fitting in if he came back. He is a quality player who works hard and scores goals so its really hard for me to see how we would fail to improve with him in the side.

If Klopp would take him back then it would be good enough for me  :nod

He IS a quality player but I cant see him working hard enough for our style midfield unless against the “park the bus” teams where pressing is not so important. He could theoretically play the Firmino role but again, I cannot see him pressing and winning the ball as much as Bobby does. The team was being built around him when he left and now we play different and for the better. Quality player but we moved forward.

I read that's been rubbished, his release clause was 35m so why would we offer 5m less, also nothing about this from Spain.

Apparently City have been banned from all European competitions for the next 2 years and fined £24m.
No doubt they’ll appeal.

Apparently UEFA have those internal e-mails where City employees basically acknowledge they are up to no good so they’ll have a tough time overturning the ban completely, they may get it reduced though, as you say mate money talks.
Makes you wonder about last year though, pipped to the title by 1 single point by a club gaming the system, if it was a level playing field Jurgen would probably be going for his second title now after winning the prem/CL double last year.
