Lets hope this doesnt open the door to any other player who commits a serious foul to use the race card to get out of any consequences for their actions.

Yeah,they exhaust every avenue of investigation ,utilize numerous linguists and lip reading specialists in an attempt to drag the case way past uncomfortable for the accused and then after a ridiculous time consuming analysis they still find nothing to issue any form of censure and yet after such a time wasting exercise and a drain on their so called resources they still stop short of prosecuting Holgate for propagating such a serious accusation. Why am I not surprised 

Really happy to hear Firmino is in the clear, can’t of been been nice for him having that hanging over his head for for such a long period of time. I really hope our fans don’t boo Holdgate the next time we play the bitters but I won’t hold my breath, Evra got booed after the Suarez incident which was so embarrassing and just plain wrong, I hope people see sense this time, Holdgate was well within his rights to report the incident.

Sorry Fowler but with all the cameras at the stadium, lip reading specialists, language specialists, microphones, appetite for prosecuting racism and the time they had to find the truth you can definitively state that he did not use any racist slurs, it is not like he was covering his mouth as players like to do. So if he definitely did not use a racist slur, how could he be accused of it. It is not something you can "think you heard", as in this day and age racist slurs have a big impact and others would have heard it too. You either heard it or you didn't. If you did then there will be proof but if you accuse someone of doing it when they definitively did not, then you should be punished. There is no place for racist slurs in society and equally there is no place for players to use false accusations of racism to gain an advantage.

I am sure that that player knows it never happened and was just trying to distract the referee to not get booked, that to me is a crime along with using racist slurs and should get punished accordingly.

You could tell he was lying the second he claimed it. The ref was coming towards them to address it, and the way Liverpool players were reacting, he knew he was at risk of being sent off. It looked really bad. He had the same look on his face when the ball goes out for a corner or throw and a player is trying to manipulate the ref into saying it went off the other team, when they know it wasn’t. He looked like he was desperately grasping for straws, because he was. Nothing firmino said sounded remotely like what he claimed. What’s terrible is it completely worked. Exactly right Ethan. He had that "oh Sh*t" look on his face, must've thought "better think of something fast or I might get sent off for this". Like kazza said above, falsely accusing someone for racism is just as bad as saying something racist. Can't believe people are actually supporting such actions, we'll get nowhere with that.

I understand a lot of people will want to just draw a line under it and forget it but I want to hear what Holgate actually had to say. The press could have crucified Firmino, he and we as a club have got off lightly. Accusations like that in this day and age are incredibly serious and Holgate toed the line of potentially dragging us through the mud. I think this case in point supports the idea of not revealing any accusations until a verdict is reached. How many people could have had FIrmino tagged as a racist throughout this whole process. Mud sticks - there'll be idiots out there who still spin the line that he's racist.

Why did it take so long to clear Firmino? The game was 7 weeks ago, that's nearly 2 months.

Does anyone really think the Everton guy has invented this to get out of trouble for his push? I don’t.

I honestly think that Holgate mis-heard what Firmino shouted at him. And given that Firmino abused him in Portuguese, I think it’s been one huge, confusing mess. Put it behind us and move on.

My thoughts exactly, probably a misunderstanding its been cleared up and everyone moves on, my only gripe is how long it took the FA to get it all sorted it was potentially damaging for both players.

I won't accuse you of being naive but you have grossly underestimate what someone who knows he is in a deep shit and possibly facing a straight red and be charged for assaulting another player are capable of, and I am pretty sure that was the case and his face shows it. He heard nothing, and it was proven that nothing he accused Firmino of was uttered so it is a straight out lie to get him off the hook...but as it is, we move on because that gutless FA will do their sweet F-A
