Lemar too young? He's 22.
How old were Michael owen and Robbie Fowler, and Stephen Gerrard when they became first team regulars?

It was very young, was it not??

Klopp could utilise Lemars strengths and develop his talent further.

If we go for 25 year old prime World class players, we will be looking at paying well over 100m.

When we buy young players all we are doing is developing them for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Man City. If they stayed here for a decade then I'd say yes, fair enough, but if they turn out to be any good we just get them taken off us. This idea of building a team for the future just doesn't work, this is the 3rd time in a decade where we have build a good side only to see it dismantled before it's won anything.
We need to start looking at players who are the finished article, that's if we actually want to win things, if we are happy enough to just plod along as a feeder club then let's just keep doing what we are doing.
If Lemar does turn out to be any good though do you honestly believe that he'll still be playing for us when he is 26/27? If he's any good he'll be long gone by the time he hits his prime and we'd be back at square one again.
We sat through years of inconsistent Coutinho performances but now he has developed into a genuine star of the game some other club will be getting the benefit of his best years.
We are stuck in a never ending cycle of rebuilding.

Unfortunately, I believe this is exactly what the owners want... look at how much Coutinho rewarded them, Suatez and Sterling before... The onus is now on Klopp to resist this...

FSG better have a replacement because if they don’t it will be the same unmitigated disaster we saw when Suarez left for a bag of crisps.

If this goes ahead I can’t see how FSG will remain here much longer, surely the fans will finally revolt to get them out of our club or is the apathy so bad we are used to being continually raped by Barcelona.

Articles are saying we asked them to match or better dembele fee which is 120 million. If they sell Couts for 120 million i'll be disappointed. 140 or 150 sounds more like it for today's market... and i am also speculating that Nike will probably contribute some of the fee...

Why do we have to have a revolt every time we sell a player? Thank g.od Southampton don't have the same policy.

I'm quietly hopeful because Klopp is so calm. We've had 6 months to plan for this + Klopp is calm so if there was any informal agreement that Coutinho would be leaving then we've had more than enough time to plan for it.

We replaced Keegan with Kenny, after Owen and Fowler we had Torres.... sunshine always comes after the rain.

The only player we never replaced was Souness but I haven't given up hope yet!.

Since when should we be comparing ourselves to Southampton, comrade Reg? A no mark club that has never achieved anything......

Couldn’t care less how “calm” Klopp and owners currently feel. The last 5-6 years have clearly shown us we have never had a “plan” moving forward. It’s always been one step forward, two steps back.

Selling Coutinho in January without having a replacement in mind would pretty much be suicide this season. Not sure why you are choosing to ignore all this, when you fundamentally agree with this?

I agree with what you say but I don't have anything to work on that suggests the owners either do or don't have plans to replace Coutinho and all we're waiting for is the pieces to come together before an announcement.

If they don't replace him, I will quietly walk away again and give up, however if they replace him with someone the world agrees is a worthy player then game on.

No other club is going to offer us 140-150 million for a Liverpool player. I'd sell and replace him with a top drawer player and pay off  VVD. That's how it works mate, you know that, players don't spend their careers at a single club anymore, Gerrard and Carra are history.

The moment we sell Coutinho this club will take a massive step backwards yet again. Where is our creativity going to come from? Henderson? Lallana?

I don't necessarily agree with the notion of 'selling our best players' - this is Barca who've taken Suarez and Coutinho. If it was another premier league side I'd be concerned (ala Torres) but this doesn't leave as bad a taste as Torres did. Even Hazard is flirting with Madrid at Chelsea, that's when not if as well.

What we need to do is reinvest the money correctly for a change, that's where we've got it wrong almost everytime.

The Portuguese club have ruled out a January deal but, should Coutinho leave for Barcelona, the Reds may come back with an offer that could test their resolve.
