Mahrez would be a great temporary replacement for Coutinho, I agree. But he's yet another African player we'd be having on our books along with Mane, Salah and Keita (Matip too but he refuses to play for his country), that's more or less our entire attack we'd be missing every other January! Plus, it's not like he'd cost peanuts either. In today's market, Leicester would probably be asking something in the region of 30-40 million at the very least, and after singing Keita and van Dijk, I don't think we can afford to sign a 40 million temporary replacement, even with the Coutinho money. If he'd be a direct replacement though, or in other words the only replacement, then it would be a different story.

REDS MAKE SUAREZ ENQUIRY - Sky Sports!

Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Luis Suarez as Philippe Coutinho looks set to leave Anfield for Barcelona in the current window, Spanish outlet Don Balon reports.

With fees of £140m and above being touted for the Brazil midfielder, the Reds are looking to reinvest the money and have reportedly asked about the Uruguay striker, who left Liverpool for Spain in 2014.

If we do end up getting both Mahrez and Thomas Lemar, I will get off the owners' back. The purchase of VVD, Mahrez and Lemar would have shown that they mean business and trusts the Kloppolution! Whether I agree with VVD's fee or not.

I have a feeling though, that it will be one or the other...

No need to worry mate they moved the African nations from January to the summer when the PL seasons finished.

A reporter for the Press Association is saying that we have contacted Leicester to reassure them that we have no interest in signing Mahrez.  :(
Pity that, he is a very good player and one of the few that might have softened the blow of Coutinho leaving.
We probably want to develop Lemar to get him ready for his big move to Barcelona or Real Madrid in a few years time.

I thought Demarai Gray looked good when we played Leicester. Better shout than Mahrez? I know he’s younger and more to prove etc but seemed like a decent no. 10 type player
