Think that is Keita Balde from Lazio.

We are now a day into the 3rd week after Klopp said all our business was pretty much done and weve signed Chelsea development player Solanke.

I am now very concerned its a another window of missed targets and lack of ambition from FSG.

I think Klopp's choice of words were probably not the best. Think the point he was making was that the background work in terms of who are targets are this summer was done. Actually getting deals over the line is a whole different matter. I personally think Klopp is better off not talking about transfers and playing any questions with a straight bat.

As it stands, looks like 2 of supposed targets in Sessegnon and Van Dijk are off elsewhere. But who know's, maybe we have other priorities higher up the list

A bidding war against City? I can't see that turning out well for us somehow.....

£60mil and 200k a week? Walk away. Even £50mil and £150k a week is too high. He's only played about 50 PL games for FFS.

But I have a feeling a lot of this might be leaked by his agent to get him higher wages wherever he does end up.

Salah deal seems close to being done.

I've seen a bit of him and I dont think he can play anywhere but RW. Even then, he's always been inconsistent and does better when he's not the main outlet. Like someone said, he can be unplayyable when on his game because of his pace and dribbling. His decision making and final ball are questionable at times though and he'll also need to cope with the physicality of the league.

I like the deal (money aside) and I think we need 1 more wide player (doesnt have to be another high profile signing).

Question: Is there any chance of Mane being considered for Firmino's central role ? If Salah signs, that would be the easiest way to get our best 11 on the pitch.

Looks like Oxlade-Chamberlain is planning on staying at Arsenal which is a relief, don't get me wrong he's a decent player but not what we need right now, we need a proper CM not a converted winger.

I doubt the interest from either side was that serious. Agent using us in contract negotiations I reckon.

If we pull off VVD and Salah soon, I wonder who's next? Keita looks unlikely to move anywhere and I don't think there is any other credible links out there. Can't see a striker coming in unless one of Origi or Danny leave. And don't seem to be many left back links out there. Club seem to be keeping things close to their chest on other targets.

Keita, Salah and VVD would represent a significant summer, if we can get them done. Linked with all three in the ragtops today...

Murmurs on twitter that Van Dijk has agreed to join us. Although on one hand it would be great to see FSG back Klopp and get the players he wants in, if it's for £60m and wages of £200k. got to be honest, that is mind boggling. Although a good defender, I've not bought into the hype around him. One of those defenders that can look excellent in some games but very ragged in others imo

Regardlesss, think Klopp being fully backed would be the main thing for me here

Ladbrokes have suspended betting on Van Dijk coming to us, if we pull this off (regardless of the financials) this is a massive coup consider we have gone head to head with the 2 richest clubs in the EPL

Source is Ladbrokes http://news.ladbrokes.com/football/prem ... rpool.html

EDIT.... William Hill also have now suspended betting

here we go :)

Liverpool are set to win the race to sign Virgil van Dijk after being informed by the Southampton defender that Anfield is his preferred destination.

Jürgen Klopp had made the Dutch international a transfer priority having guided Liverpool into the Champions League play-offs but faced competition from Premier League champions Chelsea and Manchester City for the 25-year-old’s signature. However, in what represents a major statement of intent from Liverpool and breakthrough for Klopp, the central defender has told his suitors and current club Southampton that he favours a move to Merseyside.

Liverpool have yet to agree a fee with Southampton for van Dijk but are willing to meet an asking price that could reach £60m for their main transfer target. They are also prepared to match City’s offer of a contract worth around £200,000-a-week for the former Celtic and Groningen defender, who will become Liverpool’s record signing and highest paid player once the deal is complete.

The Anfield club has refused to comment on Van Dijk’s preference but will understandably regard his arrival as a significant development given the interest from Chelsea and Pep Guardiola’s club. Talks with the player and his club are set to place in the coming days with the champions and City unlikely to rival Liverpool’s offer, and thus spark an auction that would drive up the fee for Southampton, having been made aware of the defender’s wishes.

Van Dijk, who was also wanted by Everton and his former Southampton manager Ronald Koeman, has excelled in the Premier League since arriving from Celtic for £13m in 2015. He missed the second half of last season with an ankle ligament injury but Klopp believes his defensive authority and quality in possession will improve Liverpool’s rearguard next term.

The Liverpool manager is believed to be a factor in the Dutch international’s decision with qualification for the Champions League – providing the play-off in August is successfully navigated – also crucial in swaying the defender towards Merseyside.

Klopp believes Liverpool can challenge for next season’s Premier League title with a few important additions this summer. He told the club’s website on Monday: “I’m really optimistic for our future, not because I’m crazy but only because I know what we have, I know what we will get, I know what we can get, and I know that we really have a super bunch of people - knowledge, character - not just the players, all around.”

Liverpool are also expected to sign former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah this summer but have yet to agree a fee with Roma, the Egypt international’s current club, who are seeking around £35m. Anfield officials held talks with their Roma counterparts over Salah last week but were unable to finalise terms with the club.
