It would be ridiculous after him announcing to his club that  he wants to come to Liverpool if we somehow manage to fuck this one up.

Would you rule it out though?!

I think it's still possible that Shakhtar dig their heels in for 38mil and we just won't go that high.  That's a significant jump from the 25mil on the table.

I hope a compromise around the 30-32 mil mark can be met as I do rate the player.

Depends on Klopp too though.  He's not used to being at a club with this sort of budget.  Even if he rates the player he might think breaking the 30mil mark is ridiculous for a player who's taken to the age of 25-26 to prove themselves in the Ukrainian league.  You just never know.

We've also got no idea of what type of people we're trying to negotiate with in Ukraine.  Remember that psycho owner of Dnipro who wouldn't sign off the paperwork for Konoplyanka despite us meeting the buyout clause?

Going by our past exploits in numerous long drawn out  transfer saga's ,no fella I wouldn't be surprised if it fell through ,but I have a feeling the fact far too many reds fans are waiting for it to happen and have sadly become accustomed with the abject failure to secure our prime targets ,means the club will be more determined not to disappoint this time. That said dealing with Ukrainians as you say has been notoriously difficult for us ,and yet Chelsea seem to have no such hold ups simply by giving them the requisite price. Maybe its time we stopped lowballing these clubs for our top targets  :glare:

People keep saying we should shell out the money for this guy.  I personally havent seen enough of him to be able to conclusively say he's worth anywhere near the 30+mill some are talking about. What I do know is this: The Ukrainian league is ***** and his stats there dont mean anything. He failed/continues to fail to get into the worst Brazilian side in history.

He seems to play a free role behind the striker at Shakhtar and I'm not sure he'll have that luxury with us or in this league. How or whether he adapts to the pace and physicality are other questions to be asked ?

For that kind of money, you could arguably bid for the likes of Payet and Mahrez from this league who for me are less of a gamble. You wouldnt be far off from the asking price of players like Pastore, Moura, Gundogan, Reus, Draxler, Gotze, etc.

I'd go for Payet

Its January ,pickings are scarce ,but one thing is certain we need goals ,whose going to argue he wont have the same pronounced effect as Suarez who was also a massive risk before all the top clubs starting kicking themselves for not having the stones to secure his signature. Liverpool need to take risks in this window as we are massively short on quality ,that much isn't open to debate. Who knows he may fail in this league ,or he may be a real coup ,one things for sure his stock couldn't possibly  sink lower than Benteke's has after shelling out a considerable amount for his services.

I know the Ukrainian league isn't particularly great but quite a few players have left there and gone on to do quite well in other leagues around Europe like Willian, Douglas Costa, Mkhitaryan, Fernandinho etc.

Also the goals he scored seem to show a varied set of skills, not a one trick pony. We need more skill in the team and he looks like he fits the bill

He looks quick, got excellent control like most brazillians.. but what looks most impressive is the positions he takes for most of his goals, a true poacher thinking one step ahead. I'm glad he's spoke out about wanting to join us, it might force the move through.

I wouldnt pay more than 28m, we need to be careful after buying so much rubbish.

Another number 10 as well? Its a very odd transfer policy when the defence is in tatters.

Texeira age 26 and big money. Could this be regarded as moneyball? Genuine question to those who seem to understand moneybag better than me.I accept that if he is a success he could be sold at a profit but that is not my understanding of moneyball.
