If he was all about the money then he would have signed it straight away seeing as he is being portrayed as "Greedy and Money Hungry". Another thing is that if he goes I guarantee he won't be earning 100k either at whatever club he does go to.
It will be sad to see him getting stick from the stands over this especially seeing as none of this should be out in the open.

Him and his agent obviously think that patronising claptrap like he's a '20 year old who just wants to play football' and 'it's not about the money' is as important to the general public as who the next Prime Minister is and other issues of global significance.
In an age of austerity, food banks, zero hour contracts, pay freezes, huge cuts to public services and record homelessness levels the last thing people want to see after grafting their @rses off all day for a pittance is a whiny overpaid spoilt footballer on the television going on about how he turned down £100,000+ a week because he is just so misunderstood.
When people are skint the last thing they want to hear is someone who is rich going on about how tough he has got it.
If that interview was meant to be a P.R exercise to win hearts and minds it was a spectacular own goal, even ex-United players like Paul Scholes are basically telling him to stop whinging and sign the effin' contract

Yeah, he did say that, but I'm afraid I take that with a huge pinch of salt.
When Brendan says something like that you can bet your @ss that the thing he said will not be happening, is exactly what happens.
Like f'rinstance, Mario Balotelli will not be a Liverpool player (or words to that effect.)
I do think he'll be gone in the summer, and that BBC interview was the official opening of the shop-window curtains .

If I remember correctly at the time Liverpool had a policy of giving young players £20,000 a week but Raheem 'I don't care about the money' Sterling wanted double that, in the end it was reported that the club and player reached a compromise of £35,000 a week.
It went right down to the wire though and at one point it was even reported that he was on the verge of signing for City, if you remember a lot of fans around that time had a cob on with him and his form tanked for about 12 months. A lot of people wanted to sell him even back then.
He's had itchy feet almost from the moment he started to become well known. I'd sell him, you can't build a team around players like him, he's always going to have one eye on the exit door and every time we go through an bad patch he'll be on the evening news again.
Sell him now while his star is flying high and we have the ideal replacement (Ibe) waiting in the wings.
I know the prospect of selling another top talent is unpalatable to some fans but having a player with his want away attitude can crush morale in the dressing room and as United's also rans proved at Anfield last week a team where everyone is pulling in the same direction is better than a team full of big names like Falcao and DiMaria who look like their heart isn't in it.

Yakka, Shrek did the same thing 'itching' to get out of the door, got the deal he wanted and stayed. He hasn't had the negative effect on the team that you implied happens in such circumstances. I personally do not want him gone and do not think Ibe will be at Sterling's level for at least two years. I don't want to see us wait for another player to 'develop'. Sure Sterling isn't the finished article but is much further down the road than Ibe.
