Liverpool have been put on red alert over the possibility of bringing Barcelona defender Martin Montoya to Anfield in January.

Barca boss Luis Enrique has reportedly told the 23-year-old he is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp and will be allowed to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window, despite having over four years left to run on his existing contract.

The right-back is likely to be available on the cheap or on loan in January, which could tempt long-time admirers Liverpool to swoop for his services.

Montoya, who has come through the youth system at Barca and made 38 first-team appearances, has rarely ventured outside the club's reserve ranks in each of the last two seasons but has won two La Liga titles in Spain.

According to reports in Spain, Inter Milan are also interested in his signature but the defender is said to favour a move to the Premier League.

We should pull out all the stops to sign Icardi from Inter Milan ,the lads going to be the next big South American striker ,and if we sit on our hands again like we did
with Aguero ,(the list is endless ) Silva and Villa we could see him snatched up and playing against us for one of our rivals.

Red,  it's at the stage mate now after twenty years of signing "the next…" I wouldn't entertain it anymore mate. We have young enough players, we need three quality players in their prime to improve our side and a new manager who firstly realises this and secondly stops trying to pull the wool over someone's eyes… we need a spine and a manager who has one too

Arsenal are set to launch a stunning £30million January raid on Barcelona for duo Pedro and Dani Alves, who are both being followed by Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Arsene Wenger's first priority is to sign a new right-back following a long-term injury to Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers' transition to centre-back, and Alves has emerged as his top target.

The Brazil international is out of contract at the end of the season, with United and Chelsea both preparing deals to land him on a free transfer, but Wenger is ready to trump both Louis Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho by making a £6m bid ahead of the upcoming window.

Another player in Arsenal's sights is Pedro, who is wanted by both Van Gaal and Brendan Rodgers.

The winger is set to leave the Nou Camp following the arrival of Luis Suarez, and Wenger has already put plans in place to secure his signature in a lucrative deal worth £24m after moving for team-mate Alexis Sanchez during the summer.

I agree that we need to go down an experienced route and while i do think alves would be ideal for us in the short term, I wouldnt think we would be so keen to pay any sort of a fee and take on his 100 odd grand a week wage at 31 years old.

Maybe they would accept a straight swap for Johnson

Liverpool are interested in bringing in a new goalkeeper, and Fiorentina stopper Neto looks to be top of Brendan Rodgers' list.

The 25-year-old Brazilian, who played twice in the Olympics for his country in 2012, would most likely be competition for current No 1 Simon Mignolet.

Neto's contract runs out in June 2015, and Liverpool would prefer a free move in the summer window, but may talk to him in January.

Neto has been linked with league leaders Juventus after a string of fine performances, claiming five clean sheets with Fiorentina in 11th place but with the fourth-best defensive record.

CHELSEA, Arsenal and Liverpool are still pushing to land Benfica star Anderson Talisca, who has been hailed as the 'new Rivaldo'.

The youngster has become one of Jorge Jesus' key men after a number of impressive games this season, leading to interest from the Premier League trio.

However, the player himself has already ruled out leaving Portugal for England this January, insisting that he is keen to see out the remainder of the season.

Despite the defiant stance, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers will look to land the starlet at the end of the season after he was tipped to emulate the success of Brazil legend Rivaldo.

Why would we go for another over hyped RB which can't defend for the life of him?

Manchester United have joined Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for Hoffenheim star Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian midfielder has been called up to his national side as a result of his impressive displays in the Bundesliga this season.

And that has seen him become one of the most sought after talents anywhere in European football.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all previously been linked with moves for the 23-year-old but reports in Germany now suggest that United have also thrown their hat into the ring.

Firmino is now expected to make his Brazil debut in the coming international break and said: "This selection of course inspires me a little more. I will give my best and hopefully get called up again."

Firmino was involved in all three goals as Hoffenheim battled to a 3-3 draw with Cologne over the weekend.

Borussia Dortmund are lining up Valencia star Paco Alcacer as Marco Reus' replacement.

Reus looks set to leave the Westfalenstadion with Premier League sides Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City all following his situation while Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona also keen on the Germany star.

And Dortmund seem to have begun planning for his departure.

The 25-year-old, who missed the World Cup due to injury, has a £19.75m buyout clause.

And, reports in Italy suggest Dortmund will approach Valencia for Alcacer, who would cost a similar fee having impressed this term.

The 21-year-old made his Spain debut in September and has scored three goals in four games for Vicente del Bosque's side.

Alcacer has previously been linked with Chelsea and Arsenal but Dortmund are ready to test Valencia's resolve for the young star.

Dortmund, who have struggled domestically this term and currently sit 15th just one point above the relegation zone despite topping their Champions League group, are keen to stay competitve despite failing to challenge Bayern Munich for the league since 2012.
