When Defoe got no punishment for biting it was because the ref seen it so the FA did nothing about it. The ref has seen this incident so I'll be interested to see what the punishment will be

He's done that to put off potential suitors and re affirm his commitment to us :D

I just worry about the inevitable f.a. Ban

What does the FA have to do with an international incident?

Exactly!

He can get banned for life from international football for all I care but I don't think that the FA has any jurisdiction over this.

I think FIFA have the jurisdiction to ban him from all competitions worldwide both at club and international level if indeed the alleged offence is proved. The referee took no action at the time. The suggestion is that FIFA can still take retrospective action. Is that correct?

I think for FIFA to ban him from domestic football they'd have to issue a worldwide ban and they only usually reserve those for doping and match fixing offences.
To issue such a ban for violent conduct would open a bit of a can of worms, a lot of controversial incidents happen in games all over the planet and FIFA may not want to set a precedent.
I don't think Suarez will be playing for Uruguay anytime soon though.

Not sure exactly how that works? Just who the fk wants to pay huge money for a player who's idiotic behaviour will potentially see him miss a ridiculous number of games each season due to being banned?

  Exactly. How can someone connect Suarez biting another player in a match for Uruguay with him wanting to leave the club? It would pretty much have the opposite effect actually. He's done damage to our name already so I couldn't care less about this one, as long as he gets back fit and ready for next season. Other clubs on the other hand, will definitely have some second thoughts because of his behavior.

He was at Ajax and wanted out, but Ajax wanted upwards of £30 million which nobody wanted to pay. Bit a player, got his way.
At Liverpool he wanted out, but the club was not going to hear it. No it wasn't summer yet, but he knew he wanted to go. Bit Ivanovic and almost got his way.
Now I feel he wants out again. Bites a player in the world cup before his team scores and are still on track to be eliminated. Can't be banned from club competition for it (according to the rules which have been posted all over the place since the incident, although wouldn't be surprised if they're ignored because he's a "special case"). I'm sure he'll get his way this time.

People may think he's f*cking crazy, but all that means is when he wants out we can no longer ask for £80 million for him because of his "baggage." Hell yes I could be reading into this too much, but whenever he does something crazy it's because he's NOT HAPPY WITH HIS CURRENT SITUATION. I'm not saying biting the player will force him out of the club, but he's clearly not happy, and there's no way we can keep him here another year if he doesn't want to be here.

The rules state that FIFA can ban players for, but aren't limited to:

Doping
Falsification of identity
Falsification of claim of age
Infraction involving a referee
Influencing match results (fixing)

So obviously it doesn't fall under any of those, and like you said I can't see FIFA doing this because it would completely alter FIFA's involvement in matches in the future.

it pains me to say it, but it's probably time to get shut. he's just too much of a liability. better to have a few million in the bank and/or a top quality new player than to have the loon banned for a whole season for his next incident. if anyone comes in with at least 60 million we should do the deal.

I love him for what he's done for us on the field so many times but I've lost all faith in him.

ssn are saying fifa will investigate the incident so theres a good chance he will be watching the rest of uruguays campaign from the stands or montevideo
i can offer nothing in his defence except that the lad must be skitzo  :nod
according to ssn this is what happens next  :eyebrow
referee will issue match report.
fifa will then decide whether to use video evidence and if guilty he could be banned for 24 matches or 2 years. the longest ban in world cup history is 8 games.

You're forgetting one little thing, he did this while playing for Uruguay, not for us. If he planned this all along he would have done this with us but he didn't. You think that he's some sort of an evil genius but the reality is that he's just mental. But as far as I'm concerned he can do what ever he likes as long as he's scoring goals and isn't getting banned from playing for us. Speaking of that, there's almost zero possibility that he'll get banned from club games right?

2 years?

Players have deliberately ended other players careers and got less than 6 months.

You may not think it's as bad as a dangerous tackle (I don't, but that's subjective) but that doesn't mean it's ok. It's not. It's weird. Weirdly it probably does mean it's more likely he'll stay at Liverpool (but not definitely).

If I was Hodgson, I'd be getting Suarez's phone number off Gerrard and ringing him up to thank him though. What a distraction for our twattish media on the day when the subject should be England feebly drawing 0-0 with Costa Rica and limping out of a lame World Cup campaign.

So that action will then cost the club 20 million? Had some one said sell him for 60 million two days ago you would have said they were mad. It was a ridiculously stupid thing he did but no need for knee jerk reactions.
