Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

I'm torn on the Suarez stuff. Do Madrid and Barca need him? They have more pressing issues than Suarez surely. Benzema is having a ccracking WC and Ronaldo and Bale are there too. Barca have Sanchez, Messi and Neymar. Obviously Suarez is top drawer and he'd probably get into either side but they've got other things to address imo without shelling £70m upwards on our Luis. I'd love him to stay, I was delighted for him when he scored against England (had a few bob on Suarez 2:1  :D )

I do feel he will get itchy feet tho if they come calling
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I don't envisage Luis leaving the club ,especially after working so hard ensuring  Champions League nights returned to Anfield ,a player moving on before sampling
such occasions would finally have me at a loss to explain the inner workings of a modern footballers brain ,let alone the machinations behind formulating such a move.

I do however think this will be his last season in the red of Liverpool ,and although he wasn't behind  orchestrating the whole sorry 'Arsenal' affair ,he was a more than
willing participant in what went on to become a tasteless episode, culminating with Luis giving his story  to a tabloid to openly remonstrate against John Henry's stance in retaining him,and basically the existence of this now infamous transfer clause.

I just think he definitely owes the fans another season, and the chance to see such a wonderful player plying his trade against Europe's elite ,is something he quite frankly
owes the fans of this club.

Real Madrid are rumored to have a greed a deal to sign Falcao, so Barcelona or one of the big french clubs perhaps would be biggest threat

hopefully this is just the media getting carried away with themselves again, this came from his father in law saying he should move to spain so has to be taken as nothing more than speculation.
personally i hope uruguay get the boot tonight so he has time to fully recover from that injury in time for our season. if he does then id expect him to meet up with the squad during the tour of the states.

On the back of the daily mirror they have quotes from Luis father in law or someone saying that he has achieved all he can in England and it's the right time for him to move to Spain, he also says Luis could never play for another English club out of respect for Liverpool.

He's achieved everything he can? Thats a strange comment. He needs to produce another similar season and win us a league. To be honest I think he owes us that. At the end of the day I haven't seen anything from the club or him to suggest he's going as of yet.

We cant afford to lose him, if we do we can forget about the league title and probably forget about qualifying for the champions league next season again.

The sooner he is back on UK soil the better. All this $*i*e always kicks off when he is away from LFC.

I cannot believe that if a release clause exists it is as low as £60 or £70 million. I would fully expect it to be £80 million (not euros) and maybe as high as £100m. I heard some reports that said it was £100m if we got CL, and lower if we didn't.

Can Madrid spend at that level again this summer? Probably only by selling two or three of their first team.

Barcelona are in their most transitional closed season in recent memory and have half a team to think about replacing. Plus some transfer restrictions to think about. £100m on one player? I doubt it. A deal including other players would be unlikely. Christ, we can't close a deal with Sevilla to buy a young right back, we'd never manage to close one at that level including a player like Sanchez coming this way.

France is out. A poorer league, less kudos, less of a challenge, no language/culture benefits for his family.

I cannot believe that the press have once again stirred up this sh1t storm in a matter of days. Suarez left for the WC on the back of his best season, happy and settled. It's a pity this stuff generates clicks and sales......

I do think your reasoning is pretty sound and therefore am slightly more optimistic. But sometimes a player like Luis can take any club to another level. Can you imagine him upfront with messi? Barca have some good forwards, but Luis and messi up top would be stupidly good. Same at Madrid.... If you think about it.... We could do with strengthening our defence too but look how close we went because of Suarez.

If one of those signed him that would improve their team greatly

As much as I hate to say it, I think he'll go.
This whole stink has been stirred up by the Spanish press, which they have a habit of doing. The annoying thing is that it quite often works, almost as though it is forced through by their pressure alone. At least, that's how it seems to me.
I really wish he'd stay on with us, but the media are making a very uncomfortable situation for him in England.
Whether he actually said some of the things or not, it makes no difference, it has been reported and so it is taken as gospel by some folk.
He scored twice to put England out of the world cup, and now he is being reported as saying stuff which will not endear him to the English public. I'd expect a prolific hate campaign towards him to be in the post from all angles (except us, obviously).
Again, perhaps I'm being naive, but I think this is all the Spanish press' doing, because they want him, and if they can make his circumstances sufficiently uncomfortable 'at home' in England, he may be forced to consider a move, whether he had previously intended to or not.
I really hope he stays but realistically, I think he's a "gone muthafucka"

Looks like Suarez just bit Chiellini, and if he did he's clearly trying to force his way from Liverpool. He's gone for sure.
