Ok... Lets just ask one question. Had it been made official that we had actually gone for fabregas... But he chose Chelsea... Who here would be more buoyed at the fact we actually seriously would have gone for a player of that calibre?

I know I would.

Absolutely clueless!

Read some Spanish newspaper that Suarez said "yes" to Barca  . No quotes, no nothing, just that a "source" told them.

IMO, there is a small chance that Suarez might leave, he is the best striker in the world after all and he is wanted, but I think that it's more likely that he'll stay. Some of you are letting the bullcrap from the media get to you.

Dam I think the reality is not as rosy as you make out. If you are, as in your own words, the best striker in the world, (we finally agree :D ) would you not be looking around thinking? I can play in a better team with better players than some of these? I know I would. Infact, I'd look at it knowing how important I was to the side and would expect the club to match my ambition... Which they currently aren't doing... Food for thought?

Like I said Stu, there's a small chance that he might leave and it's mainly because of the things you said. However, I don't think that Suarez sees the club as unambitious as you see it. When he wanted to leave last summer the club and Rodgers promised him that his ambitions will be satisfied here. Despite the fact that we didn't do so well in the transfer window, we still managed to be in the title race. I believe that Suarez now trusts the club and the management and I doubt he'll be looking to leave after such a successful season, regardless of how we do in the transfer market. Nothing he's said or done so far has indicated that he wants to be sold (quite the opposite), unlike last time. The club is keeping it's promise so far, so there's no reason for him to leave

Next summer however, now that will be the time to worry. IMO, he will leave next summer regardless of how we do this season, but that debate can wait until then.

When a club like Barcelona have a bad season, top players are always snatched to fix their problems.

I really hate how they do business in the transfer market, always trying to tempt the player to take the initiative force his way out and get them on the cheap.

Suarez has yet to show any signs of wanting a move, I'm more than a little worried though.

I've got to say I'm resigning myself to the fact that he may very well leave. Just trying to accept it and move on, regardless of how key he is for us. There's nothing us as fans can do about it, so at this point it's best to just let what happens, happen. He haves us a couple great seasons, and if he leaves he'll give us a pocketful of cash.

^ It is just how big clubs always operates...looked at the sharks circling around St. Mary's now cherry picking all the good players off Southampton after their good season. Like we all agreed, Suarez is an exceptional talent and would walk into any team on the face of this earth and naturally teams such as Barca and Real (after their failures last season) would want to woo Suarez...it's just a fact of life we unfortunately have to face because of our failure in the last 20 years.

I hate seeing Suarez leave but he is in his prime and his stock is at the highest ever so if we have to face the inevitable, then I say we squeeze every penny out of the deal. I hoped we have the higher hand in whatever negotiations that will take place and we should take the likes of Sanchez, Pedro and loads of cash off Barca since they are likely to face a sanction next season and will need to act decisively during this transfer window.

You can't replace an individual like Suarez today but we can improve our starting XI quite considerably to counter the loss of one man. At the end of the day, that might be a better deal for us especially if we are shrewd with our transfer. If we are to do a Spurs, then we are royally fcu-ked for the next 5 years!

I don't actually think Suarez will go this summer.  I think with the WC Benzema is having, Madrid might decide to invest in other positions.  And if they do go for a striker then Falcao apparently fancies a move there.  Same age as Suarez, similar quality and would probably be cheaper.  I don't think Suarez will end up in Madrid this summer.

Barcelona don't have such a history of paying ridiculous transfer fees, not really their style, although they do occasionally - Ibrahimovich was a massive deal but other than that you're talking around the 30mil mark tops for the likes of Fabregas/Sanchez.  So again I can't see them offering 70mil or whatever it is.  Using Sanchez/Pedro/both in a swap is complicated.  They are big players with big reputations and won't like being used as makeweights in a Suarez deal.  Again I can't see it.

If he did go then strengthening our team with the money wouldn't be as easy as it sounds.  Spurs are prime example with the Bale money as mentioned.  Losing your best player and trying to introduce several players to replace him in one transfer window would see us finish lower next season no question.

yeah right...tell me how much did they paid for Neymar again? the reported £50M to dodge tax or the actual £100M that came out from their pocket?

he's obviously going to have his head turned by both of these Spanish heavy weights but would it be the best for him, I hope he stays as with us he is our world class player the number one and is treated so, Barcelona have Messi, Ibramovich couldn't cope with that and at RM they have Ronaldo who was not so bothered about Bale but how would he feel about Suarez. I also think it would be a mistake for Barcelona, they have more pressing needs than another forward.

I am starting to think he will go as he has come out with the " I am not respected in England " stuff again
this makes it clear that deep down he is not happy here.
