"I'm going to go out on the training field today and I'm raring to go for the game."
He was forced to miss the 2-0 defeat to the South Americans on Friday night and the 24-year-old admits it was difficult having to watch on from the sidelines.
"It was very frustrating," he added. "It's important for me to be fit and to play for England, it's an opportunity that I'm relishing.
"If I can remain fit, that's what's important for me, to be putting on the England shirt and playing.
"It's not a serious injury so I'm hopeful that it doesn't continue to linger on. I've been playing with it for the past couple of games and it's been hindering my performance.
"But I had a scan and I'm ready to go, I'm delighted the pain's not too bad and I'm looking forward to it."
again like gerrard i believe the club should have not released him for this. by sturridge's own admission he has been carrying an injury that has been hindering his performances for us.
we have a tight squad that cannot do without 2 of our best players.
was talking about gerrards jabs with a few mates the other day and it was said that no player will want to miss out on the W.C. it then shifted to how much commitment they will give in the run in to the season, especially in the last month. no one will want to pick up an injury that will rule them out. anyone who needs an operation will also push to get it early so they have time to recover.
if we are still pushing hard for C.L come next mar-apr, can we really rely on these 2 to give us 100% in everything ?
