It's hard to attract Champions League players when you're not in the champions league, for a team who in the past 4 seasons has finished no higher than 6th, it's probably been a difficult job in convincing the players the club wants to sign for us - As we saw with Mktaryan.

I actually think the move was a good bit of business now as well. Our first choice turned us down to go to the champions league finalists, our second choice turned us down to stay on at a champions league club on an improved contract and spurs have been spending the Bale money, acquiring attacking midfielders. I think it makes sense to get a player in on loan - who is an upgrade on what we had last season anyway - and then see who's available in January / next summer - rather than go for a 3rd/4th choice now.

Agreed. I could be wrong on this but I believe he has to score one league goal or one assist to better Downing's vital stat's in his first season. I think he's more than capable of that and will provide a good all-round contribution to the team, such will be his desire to nail down a first team place.

Victor Moses says he is here to score goals....I think he'll get a good load of them.

And when he carries on his mid table performances then what ?

We want players to take us to the CL and we get Victor Moses ! Let the celebrations begin. Our standards have truly dropped

This is what narks people off, man. You're so certain. No if's, just when's. No room for discussion. You said you don't like this signing mate. We get it.

Give the ink chance to dry on his signature.

That room for discussion works both ways mate. Just like people are certain he will improve us - you don't see me calling them clueless or having a go because they think different to me ?

A very average player and not going to take the club forward, but if he can add a few goals when he plays and is an improvement on Sterling then I suppose that won't be the worst of things.

I've never really thought he worked hard enough or had the game intelligence to play anything more than mid table and I don't believe his stand out attributes to be good enough to stand out!! No suprise to see him offloaded by Chelsea within a year/year and a half.

Why is anybody comparing Moses to Downing? Moses has almost certainly been brought in as a squad player and can certainly do a decent job if needed. He will also offer a rotation option against lesser teams. Moses is also costing us next to nothing apart from his wages. On the other hand Downing was brought in as a supply line for Carroll and that didn't work too well. Downing cost £20m plus a ridiculous weekly wage !! Downing was bought to improve the first team and I will leave you to draw your own conclusions on that one........

The comparison is idiotic. Rather than spending a crazy amount of money in making a last minute panic acquisition the club do something sensible and get castigated for it.

Certain posters  have suggested that Toure wasn't going to be an improvement over Carra. The same people suggested Mingolet was not going to be an improvement on Pepe. Can't we just give the new lads a chance instead of criticising the clubs decisions almost for the sake of it. Currently BR is doing a good job. Some people will only be happy when he fails. It's pathetic to be honest.

Welcome to LFC Victor - enjoy.

Benny, you're entitled to your opinion. But sometimes you appear like a baseball player batting at 12 balls at once. Discuss the finer points by all means, but you reiterate your point to each single person who differs from you. A more generalised, less specific approach is sometimes advisable.

Discussing the time in the future when he will "play like a mid table player" isn't something that can be fairly discussed. The threads where you do that tend to fork off all over the place into guesses and predictions. I'm not sure that's very productive *shrug*

It's the same with people stating that he will improve on what Downing gave us - its guessing and predicting also.

Thanks for the PM Woof. I just hope you are reading this thread which typifies the problems the forum is encountering.

footy isnt an exact science, sometimes players go to a club and there`s just something in that particular environment that makes them click (or fail), so who knows, maybe moses`s game will dovetail perfectly with the likes of suarez`s, coutinho`s and sturridge`s.
maybe rodgers`s playing style will suit his game, he did well at wigan under martinez who has a similar philosophy to brendan

Maybe it will mate - I hope it does but I'm just disappointed we didn't get a more inspiring player to arrive. Someone who would really burst into the first 11 - I can't even see Moses in the first 11. Then he is just back up. Arsenal are just about to get a top top player that will walk straight into their team. If we were going to get a player on loan from them then get Lukaku.

Neil Jones ‏@neiljonesecho

Looks like #LFC will receive a fee for Borini loan. Around what they paid to Chelsea for Moses.
