Lots of reports before the weekend claiming Anzhi had accepted our bid. Then more reports came out saying Anzhi had accepted both ours and spurs bids and it was down to the player to decide.
Now it seems the player prefers Spurs (possible due to AVB being after him previously?)
By all accounts, from the little we know of such tranfer dealings, and the supposed "ITK"'s on twitter, I believe we've done all that we can in trying to secure the player.
If he chooses another team over us, there's nothing more we could have done.
Players turning us down it seems is happening too often these days - why do we seem uncapable of closing out transfers at the moment when we are in competition with other clubs - and its not like we are fighting teams like Chelsea or City or the Mancs for players. Players turning us down for teams like Spurs never used to happen - now its happening more often and its worrying. I have my obvious reservations about Ayre - he has a track record of royally f*cking things up. Is the pull of our club that diminshed at the moment. Also i do worry that BR also doesnt have the pull to get the better players - but thats down to not being a name in Europe because he is unknown in Europe ( because he is very new at the top level ).
