The Gunners have made buying Suarez their number one priority, and have already offered a club record fee of £40million plus £1 to sign him.

Liverpool have turned that bid down, and insist the player will stay put, but Arsene Wenger is increasingly confident he will get his man.

According to reports in Uruguay, the Frenchman has already drawn up a four-year-contract for Suarez to sign, that would see him take home £160,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium.

Suarez currently earns around £120,000-a-week after negotiating a pay rise last summer, but Arsenal are willing to blow that amount out of the water.

Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott currently lead Arsenal’s rigid wage structure, both pocketing £100,000-a-week each, but Suarez would be a special case.

He is seen as a marquee edition to the squad, and the work he is doing to force a transfer will be rewarded if the deal goes through with a signing on big fee already mooted.

Arsenal expect movement on this deal in the next few days.

How is that possible when Henry have already said we are not selling to Arsenal? Or is it an out-dated report?

It's the media - they don't listen to statements of people not for sale. We/they have heard plenty of owners in the past declare players not for sale only for them to be gone within a year. So the media will just plough on printing stories.

And you plough on printing it here!

It's yesterday's news, though when questioned again today he made a comment that there's time left that he's not ruling anything out. It's more generalised news, but tagged as Liverpool news cos of Suarez I suppose.

So how is it useful for you to re-post that story? Surely, you as an experienced poster would have better judgement to filter the more usefull articles from the useless ones? I'm not going at you, I'm just sayin... after all, we are trying to make this forum better...

Sorry, wasn't having a go, but you're just posting the news.

Before the City game Arsene was again pressed by journalists to give them tomorrow's headlines and Arsene said they have a number if targets, and that there's four weeks left yet. Really mate, they're squeezing every drop out if this. A day of no posting in this thread means there's no news. The News know there's no news too lol. So they threw something together to keep it all alive, and you posted it here :)

Don't think it was the wisest thing for BR to come out and say Suarez needs to apologise. Should have been done behind closed doors. I know Suarez and his agent have taken to playing this whole thing in the media and we are looking to carry on our retort but think coming out with the whole apology thing wasn't a great idea IMO. I get the feeling BR is looking to win brownie points with us supporters but just needs to be a bit more careful on what he comes out in my view

Agree with Doeboy, Rodgers was unwise to go public with with that statement, which just invites a reaction from Suarez.
Particularly when Suarez is about to go off with the International team for a week when he will be interviewd by the Worlds Press> Stand by for the usual illconsidered responses which will only appear as more disrespect

I think Rodger's has been nothing but diplomatic with Suarez ,he made it public on numerous occasions that he was on
speaking terms with Luis and he was training as usual ..... So to then hear about Luis going crying to the Independent
about broken promises, must have been like a kick in the teeth for someone he has afforded the utmost respect.

Its refreshing to hear clubs managers and their owners stating so adamantly they will not be held to ransom by players
who should know better than to use the media to drive their own agenda.

Rodgers is correct when he stated Luis needs to apologise ,now we await our disgruntled strikers next course of action
whether it be motivated by the media or a plea to the courts ......Rodger's has forced his hand now ,Suarez can only
defile his once iconic image even further in the eyes of Reds fans.

I don't understand the need to do it all in the media either. Demanding an apology via the press is tantamount to trapping an angry cat in the corner. I will be very surprised if Suarez is a Liverpool player beyond the end of the window. In fact it would surprise me to still see him at Arsenal for 50 mill if they stump up the money.

Certainly backed him into a corner and Suarez will only come out fighting - demanding the apology in public was very brash of BR but he does keep putting his foot in it with the media - he loves his soundbites. Same with the owners "won't sell to anyone" ! Going to look stupid when he does leave. It won't be the first time we shout out to the media only for it to come back and haunt us

You forgotten the Suarez t-shirts fiasco already?
